VAR is a must for next season for Scottish football. Rangers board need to push this big time. Referees in this country are simply awful and make too many mistakes. VAR will solve this. This does not excuse the Rangers players who have let the fans and the club down big time. The performances since the winter break have been a disgrace and have gifted them the title. Gerard needs to also take responsibility for a number of awful decisions and performances since the Stranraer game.

Don't forget, VAR works both ways. If Alfredo is still here when and if it is introduced, he would play about one game in ten. As much as I love him for his goals, he is a cheating wee ned.

2.) 13 Feb 2020 08:59:03
Completely agree with everything youve said Stevie. A year ago I would have been one that said "dont give me any excuses about poor refs, it evens itself out" I still don't want to use it as an excuse but the officiating is absolutely shocking. VAR would sort this so let's take it out the refs hands. The fact of the matter is that we are not good enough though to make poor refereeing a non factor. Poor refereeing doesn't make our players run less, create less chances or make stupid defensive mistakes.

A quick other point. I find it disgraceful and disrespectful for some on here to refer to SG as the "celebrity". He is a big name worldwide in football because he had a superb career as a player. Calling him "celebrity" insinuates that he is more interested in the fame than doing a good job and this is not the case. SG has a lot of learning to do as a manager and he is certainly making a lot of mistakes and not learning from them. Same tactics, lack of ability to change and poor team selection at times are hurting him badly. He won't be sacked because we can't afford to pay him and his staff their 4 year contracts so we need to get behind him. We have no option. Criticise constructively, offer opinions of course but no need to get personal with this "celebrity" crap. If anyone genuinely believes he's more interested in the fame that comes along with his position and past than doing a good job then i for one wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion. The guy is making mistakes yes but i know he's working as hard as he can.

I've said umpteen times that VAR is the only way to go. I was thinking long and hard about this last night and apart from the Goldson incident last week with the handball, I can't think of any other decision we have had in our favour. The 2 Celtic games (The LC game and the 29th Dec) were littered with errors, all against us, and there have been many, many decisions go against us in other games. Last night there was the Dicker dive, holding his face in the box - no 2nd yellow card, the clear handball in the lead up to their equaliser and the manhandling of Tavernier which is a yellow card 10 times out of 10 (obviously unless our players are fouled) . And the foul on Kent by Burke as he raced in on goal was a red card and a free kick in a dangerous area, though some might question the fact that Kent should have been stronger and muscled his way on to the ball. I played up front for a spell and I can guarantee that I would have got on the end of that ball. Might not have scored but I would have got an attempt on goal! The Morelos disallowed goal was a push and probably rightly ruled out imo. Mark Hateley would have muscled out the defender and bulleted that one in to the net no problem. I agree with the comments on Morelos regarding the silly cheating incidents. Last night he did the exact same as in the Celtic game. Why can't he just stay on his feet and have a lash at the ball? If he had done that at Parkhead the ball might just have flown in past big Lurch. Because of that he was banned for 3 games and since he came back he has struggled to find the groove again. All that said, I didn't think the performance was that bad. It is a hard venue with the pitch and everything and most clubs usually struggle there, including the other lot. Aribo slips a split second before he shoots, Arfield misses by a foot or so and Morelos hits the bar.
Some decent luck and VAR would be a good start.

Seeker, i done a post on here in december saying we badly need var cause let's face it the officials fear letting celtic down, that's still my opinion,

5.) 13 Feb 2020 16:11:23
Paulellen - spot on!

6.) 13 Feb 2020 20:45:29
Seeker, ide imagine the players heads must go down on a weekly basic, when they see the waywe are cheated by officials, funny how we can win euro games eh, big pete knows we would win the league if our club were treated properly by officials, big pete has all the officials where he needs them, but hey what else could we expect, he is head man in sfa.

I am absolutely gutted with our performances since the winter break. The signs were there from the Stranraer and St Mirren games where we were simply awful. We did not heed the warning signs and the players have let the club and the fans down badly. I think Dubai should not be on agenda next winter break as it clearly isn't working.

We don't start games well enough and don't move the ball forward quick enough. Teams sit deep and we cannot break them down as our final ball is awful. Also VAR NEEDS to be in place by next season as the refereeing standard in this country is at rock bottom. I think we are being given a raw deal by refs and the SFA. VAR will take this away. Rangers need to demand this in place by start of next season.

Stevie71, we definetly need var, as lawell has everything coverts at this moment in time, var would give us a chance, which we don't have now, due to corrupt officials.

We can't seem to be able to break teams down and continue to start games too slowly. With the exception of McGregor the whole team were poor today yet again. The last 5 games since the break have all been poor performances so today was no surprise. Gift wrapped the title. So frustrated and annoyed with the players.

I no people won't like this but SG has to go now it's just no working out 7mill fur Kent more like 1.5 mill no more waste of dosh.

2.) 01 Feb 2020 17:12:23
Don't think he has to go. Although I think our fans need to start looking at Gerard and his decisions - plays the same team and formation which opposing managers can plan to counter all week. We needed a goal and Morelos was largely anonymous (not having a go at him), but gives Kamberi the last 7 mins.

3.) 01 Feb 2020 17:12:48
Get a grip.

4.) 01 Feb 2020 17:15:53
Nonsense total knee jerk comment get a grip we’re all down so you think bringing someone in now helps us? If.

5.) 01 Feb 2020 18:24:35
So is Gerard beyond criticism because of who he is? I'm not in the camp that says he needs to go or say he's under pressure, but I do think he gets away with poor decisions with no questions being asked. We are now far too predictable, we needed a goal and Kamberi gets the last 7 mins when Morelos wasn't at the races today (and no, I'm not having a go at Morelos), he's destroyed Docherty's confidence with the way he's been treated. We're in, sorry we were in a title race and we just can't keep playing players hoping their confidence returns. JJ is another one, something has happened behind the scenes for Barker and Ojo to get in ahead of him. For the second year in a row, we've pissed the league away and now they're at 9 (yes, it's 4 points, 7 after tomorrow, but can we guarantee wining our game in hand? ) . There's fans who still think we're in it, but they do not look like dropping points. Sorry for the negativity but that's just the way I feel.

6.) 02 Feb 2020 09:56:06
Got slaughtered on here when sg got a new contract I said at the time they should be waited to see how this season pans out.

I posted on Wedneday night on return from game re how poor the last two home performances were and the warning signs were there for Hearts. We haven't returned well from break yet again and we need attacking two players in at least on loan who can create chances especially from midfield and right side. I hope Stevie G has a couple of players lined up even on loan lined otherwise we are not winning this league. Its painful to say but we were outfought yesterday. Tav and Morelos were a massive miss and I would bring in Edmonson for Katic and A
rfield for Kamara assuming Jack is fit on Wednesday night . One more mistake and they could be out of sight and uncatchable as they won't drop many points against teams like Hearts.

1.) 27 Jan 2020 13:59:31
steviec71, what did Katic do wrong to incur your wrath? As for not winning the league, you're taking hysteria to a new level, mate, if we win all our remaining games we win the thing!

2.) 27 Jan 2020 14:36:31
the covenantor - Katic had a nightmare yesterday just like a few others. Edmonson is a good centre half and has never put a foot wrong when he gets a rare chance. A few changes required for Wednesday and this would be one.

Just back from game. very frustrated and disappointed. very poor all round performance. only positive was the win. Very clear we miss tav and Morelos. We need to sign an attacking midfielder and a high quality right winger as Aribo and Arfield are not the answer in this position and Jones and Ojo arei not good enough consistantly and only impact players from the bench If we fail to sign anyone even on loan I fear the league will be lost. The warning signs are there after the last two performances. The three week break seems to affect us and we need to work out why very quickly.

1.) 22 Jan 2020 23:28:16
Yip a relatively flat performance from us against st. mirren tonight but more importantly we got the 3 points. For me anyway, borna barisic easily the best player on the park and my motm! Some of his balls into the box were superb. He's playing out of his skin now for us. Said also we would only see how much we miss tav when he's not playing, guess what it showed, we missed him like hell!

2.) 23 Jan 2020 00:21:53
Didnt understand tonight why we kept slinging crosses into defoe who's about 3 n a half feet up against 2 giant centre backs. Hardly looked a threat tonight we miss morelos do much thank God he's only got 1 game left.

3.) 23 Jan 2020 07:53:07
The big miss was Morelos not only for his goals but for his work in the final third he bullies defences makes space for others to play in wins fouls high up the park for us yes Defoe scored and given a chance he will get you goals but Morelos make his own goals with his strength we need another striker fast we have four CDs plenty midfielders, glut of wide players but only two strikers and one of them is 38 if any of that two got injured or lost form I think we would be in real trouble I just hope we get one in the door in next few days.

4.) 23 Jan 2020 08:53:11
Bring in charlie austin on loan. He'd batter goals in up here but its hard to convince a top striker to come and probably be 3rd choice. that's the problem we've currently got here.

5.) 23 Jan 2020 08:42:37
Harsh on aribo, feel he was one of our best players in the run in of games towards the winter break.

6.) 23 Jan 2020 08:48:49
Agree, 17 shots against their 1 . wasn't convincing at all though. Different team without tav. last night should've been a case of right ok no tav . let's show the fans we don't need him all the time. quite clearly we don't have a replacement for him yet. in fact not a lot of decent replacement for any our 1st team. .

Who replaces defoe .
Who replaces kent
Aribo
Barasic

I could go on but you get me. Quite clear to me instead of banging players out we need a couple of guys who will take the game. by its neck. definitely need a big tall number 10 for upfront. that's a given.
Better not be same as last year where we crumbled after the winter holiday. just think its a shame without tav last night we were a different team and no one on here csn tell me differently.

7.) 23 Jan 2020 09:41:29
Totally with you stop_the_9.I mentioned a name to my mate at ibrox last night who i would like us to try and bring in on loan, 'till the end of the season. He's an attacking midfielder (no.10), who can create and score goals and i believe he's out of favour under ancelotti at everton. His name is Icelandic star sigurdsson. Thoughts on this guy fellow bears? 🤔🤔.

8.) 23 Jan 2020 17:00:36

we have totally capitulated since the winter break. Not for the first time. The early warning signs were there at the Stranraer and St Mirren. We were awful in both games. A serious inquest into what has happened required at Murray Park. Every single player can't suddenly go miles off form after a 3 week break. Every single player has been awful since the break which certainly points to the deressing room being lost. Gerard's decision making is baffling too and he needs to take responsibility too.

Agree re Shankland but united won't sell to us. He was scoring goals for fun for Ayr and was worth a shout when available there. The Dubai trip clearly isn't working as we seem to continually return badly from the 3 Week break. Perhaps a trip to Gullane sands might be more appropriate for next year and improve their fitness.

Another awful performance yet again. I cannot understand why we have gone from being so good before before the break to so bad after the break. Its a complete mystery.
