Rumours on line Gareth Henderby headed to Rangers to be in charge of academy

This would be a sensational move if it happens.

Would show a big change in direction of type of players we'd be targeting. Could be very interesting. He unearthed some cracking players with right to dream.

01 Jul 2024 21:05:42
Appreciate your continued enthusiasm for the academy and youth John, but the b team have nowhere to play and hardly anyone gets minutes in the first team.
With the offers down south for most of the guys we will be chasing, why? Would they come here?

01 Jul 2024 21:40:04
Guy from right to dream acedemy?

01 Jul 2024 21:42:32
If we can pull this one off then it will be signing of the year.

01 Jul 2024 21:50:08
I read that the other day he is the guy behind players mo kudas etc.

01 Jul 2024 21:57:34

01 Jul 2024 22:04:37

01 Jul 2024 22:51:08
Foolmonty, you're correct.

01 Jul 2024 23:06:51
Everything alright john? You seem a bit off recently in your replies. A bit short even. Hope all is ok.

01 Jul 2024 23:21:00
John, you've been very off in some posts.
Are you OK. Do u need a hug?

01 Jul 2024 23:42:06

BAR, they haven’t played in first team because they haven’t been good enough. Hence why we need a new director.

I remember Ajax produced some wonderful talents out of their academy about 30 years ago. A guy called Jan Wouters was given a lot of credit. So Rangers hired him. We had heavily invested in the new training academy and got the best staff we could find. Ever since then the academy has consistently failed to produce players. Multiple staff changes have happened and still the result are the same. The problem is managers don’t give youth a chance because there is such a demand for instant success.

Over the last 30 years I could only name a handful of really good examples of Rangers youth academy players who came through and actually benefitting the club: Hutton, Ferguson, Patterson, and McGregor. The youth academy has performed terribly for decades. It is something the club need to take a serious look at.

generic i hand you Billy Gilmour and raise you Rory Wilson both these have made us a wee bit of dosh. Our academy pays for itself and long live the King??.

02 Jul 2024 07:34:21
Nothing off at all site has changed. I treat people how people treat me.

Folk wonder why we r not posting much now. Copland 5 best poster on here hardly seen

Hopefully when signings announced folk Wyness happy

Couple exciting names coming.

Nathan young Combes and dire mebude have both raised us 1 million, mb not a lot but significant imo.

02 Jul 2024 08:53:51
John, is probably being off because of some of the Weapon? that have been replying to him lately.

If this lad joins our club then we are being setup for talents from far off places to join our club at a young age. Guy did ok at his current club I thought right? This is the Nils Koppen effect.

02 Jul 2024 09:34:55
John2561, stuff them bud, you keep doing what you do as I appreciate both you and CF5's info, and plenty others too??.

02 Jul 2024 09:53:45
The Academy is a great thing for youngsters to develop and grow into first team players or sell on for big profit.

This will only happen irrespective of G Henderberry arriving if the B team is playing better competion ie. not a bunch of cluggers in the lowland leagues.

We need more cross border setup playing against EPL or Championship B teams. to me that is where young lads will play against better competition.

With Big Phil and the staff we have seen joining the club and if we captured Henderberry then we are looking at a more rosier future (not instant) all round.

We have to retain the brightest of these young lads and Big Phil did this with young Mason Munn a defenite No.1 Goalie

I have disagreed with john a few times on here but his passion for the youth is where Rangers future lies. We will never have big bucks playing in this diddy league but with a conveyor belt of talent we can sell and attract by winning our league and playing in Europe.

Well said John, some very good posters on here and some very informed on what’s going on at the club. Unfortunately a few carrying personal baggage not worthy of comment. I would urge all the good posters and lurkers who help make the site a genuine online community for the club to keep engaged. Love this time of the year and hearing the rumours informed or not.

??Bankie.

02 jul 2024 11:56:19
well said bankie, as per.

Its not Rangers fault that there is no organised football for the youths to play in after U18 level, that's Scotlands shame and the fault of the SFA and its clubs . Rangers have put proposals forward to fix this and been shot down every time. Its a national disgrace and will see that national team slide even further down the standings as time goes on . As for not getting minutes in the first team, McCrorie, Devine, King, Yfeko, Fraser, McKinnon, Rice, Lowry . McCausland and Lovelace have all had minutes over the last couple of years.

02 Jul 2024 13:21:30
Blue laudrup, I totally respect your views and don’t mind disagreeing it’s about opinions, u and I want the same for our club

A very good post Wsl, people at sfa can’t see beyond their free travel and meals, rangers plans for progression after academy, ie a bteam, reserve league would only benefit Scotland at international level,

02 Jul 2024 13:28:34
I for one look forward to Johns posts as he’s usually on the money along with some other well informed posters. ?????????.

“ Billy Gilmour and raise you Rory Wilson”

Both players left at 16. Rangers made a fraction of what either was worth. A few hundred thousand when those players are worth tens of millions. Those two are examples of the Rangers youth academy working? I think not.

Billy Gilmour is a wonderful player but how does that benefit Rangers? It doesn’t. He has never played for us. We did not sell him for tens of millions which is what he is worth. Billy Gilmour leaving our club was a disaster. Rory Wilson was one of the best young striker in his age category across Europe and we lost him.

As I said, I can only name a handful of good examples where talent brought through really benefited Rangers.

I agree with all this. What is the point of bringing young talented players here if there is nowhere to compete, and no path to the first-team? Good money was paid to get Lovelace up here and where is he? If we went in to next season with Lovelace as third choice striker the fans would have a meltdown.

Most of the rangers academy players will have good careers in football. Just not at Rangers.
