Its amazing how people add names to fit the narrative. Sterling is a defender, who can play midfield if needed and Wright has never played midfield at any time for us. Hagi will go, is hard to sell him when he has been on holiday and who knows whether Lowry is even in the picture but up to now we wouldn`t include him as part of our midfield squad . In my opinion if we play two deep lying midfielders like we did last season we are actually 1 short as we need 4 not 3 but I do agree we have 3 players for the No 10 role and we need rid of Dowell and Lawrence who are always injured and rotten when they are fit. Cantwell and Lowry to compete for this role and if Lowry is deemed not up to it we need to sign someone.

RFC, Lowry will be paid a reserve players wages so if you are counting him as part of the over load in midfield you might as well count all the boys from the B team in that position too. Sterling is a defender who was pushed into midfield due to an injury crisis and in fact after Diomande arrived very rarely if ever played there, in fact he played on the right wing more. Wright is not and has never been an attacking midfielder. If Tav stays I reckon Sterling will be used as cover right across the defence and possibly in midfield too depending on injuries and tactics required .

We have been overpaying average players for too long and that’s one of the reasons they can’t be offloaded easily, same thing Man Utd do but they are on a higher scale.

The contract extension was a safety net, imo, with the possibility and talk of Clement being touted for other jobs ie Belgian national team.
However, in giving him the extended contract, the board have nailed their colours to the mast. They won't sack him because it would cost them too much. I think we need to be patient. Things could change if we get through on Tuesday night in terms of new signings. As for stlyle of play
