On Sky Sports Regional Paper Talk section the and the Reading Post is linking us with Reading midfielder Liam Kelly. Anyone heard anything about this?

{Ed039's Note - Yes he is a player Warburton likes, he is out of contract at the end of the season and could move under the same circumstances that Rossiter and Dodoo moved)

1.) 16 Nov 2016 20:41:42
Taking into account that frank lampard is now almost at the very end of his career, with his next move obviously not going to be money motivated, do you think there's any chance at all that we could sign frank lampard?

2.) 16 Nov 2016 21:57:32
Nope. And for the reason you put at the beginning of your post. And cash too. Would anyone be willing to take 5% of previous earnings? That being said, you would think that MW will still be looking for the experience in midfield that he was looking for when he signed JB and NK.

Personally, I don't want Rangers to be the vehicle for players to finish illustrious careers. I'd rather it was the club where they started them.

3.) 17 Nov 2016 11:24:02
why do we need a midfielder?
only areas I think we are weak is defence and attack we need a centre back with pace and a poacher to bang the goals in.
if warbs goes for more middle of the park player to sit on the bench because he only plays three in there then sum1 needs to give him a slap.

4.) 17 Nov 2016 11:37:00
Would obviously love Lampard in the team but there's no chance he'll come up here. He'll become a Sky Sports pundit and join up with Carra, Neville, Henry no doubt.

5.) 19 Nov 2016 15:01:47
I see the comments about Red Bull Teams being universally hated, well from what I can see, in today's Scotland, we are universally hated anyway so if we get a sponsor that brings us back to the glory days why not. Personally I don't give a proverbial about the supporters of other Scottish Teams especially those that play in Green!

Does anyone who sees the youth teams regularly have an opinion on whether or not Atakayi or Burt are ready for first team? Great to see Beerman and Bates getting minutes, but heard more promising things about these two, and we could do with some pace and creativity.

1.) 12 Apr 2017 21:09:18
I've watched a few of the games and Burt is outstanding near enough every time. In all the games I watched it was Burt who makes the largest impact/ the telling pass or the goal on most occasions for the u20s. Atakayi has only recently hit a decent bit of form but he's rapid and got good feet, started to put on a bit muscle too. another one to watch out for Barjonas

2.) 12 Apr 2017 21:06:29
Physically i think Burt could handle it and from what I've read and heard about Atayaki he sounds like a craxking player although i ain't seen him in the flesh, hope both get a shot.

3.) 12 Apr 2017 21:10:28
Haven't seen a lot of either although heard a lot of good things about atayaki. I believe he got a double earlier this week. What i would say though is to truely measure the lads capabilities they need to either be playing reguarly in the 20s or at the very least training with the 1st team. Its a massive jump from performing well at 15s under 19s evens 20s to being a pick for the 1st team. Whether Caixinha uses the rest of this season to focus on that and the lads personal development i'm not sure. Ones for the future though.

4.) 12 Apr 2017 21:12:19
I believe that both of these boys are better than some players currently in the first team squad and could be promoted, but we already have a rather young squad. I think that promoting them to the senior squad now with a view to bringing them on next season would be an astute plan, provided we sign some good pros in the 26-30 bracket to become the nucleus of the team. This is the area in which we are severely lacking.

5.) 12 Apr 2017 21:14:54
Ive seen the youngsters play about 7 times this season. a couple of games were in the Scottish youth cup early on when hardy scored a hat trick and I think barjonas is probably the next midfielder to step up physicaly. he is ready and he has similar qualities to mckay with passing burt may be too light weight not seen atakayi so much as he was always a late sub but has blistering pace.

I would say mccrorie from the back was stand out a good 4 out of the 7 games as the best player he could fill any position across the back 4 and impressed by him also there's a boy upfront called rudden. I think that's his name he bangs them in for fun but may be a few years away for him was impressed by mccrorie, barjonas and rudden also burt as well but think he should maybe stay with the youth at the moment just my opinion lol

6.) 12 apr 2017 21:18:14
they seem a bit lightweight to me.
only see what i can on rangers tv though

7.) 12 Apr 2017 21:31:54
Josh Jeffries is quite the player.

03 Mar 2017 08:33:25
Neither were top of my list, but the more I read and think about Wilson as DoF and Caixinha as Gaffer, the more optimistic I feel about the future. Hope we get these two in quickly now, and can build for next season well in advance. Let's give the new staff our full support, after all

1.) 03 Mar 2017 09:04:06
No matter who comes in we must give them our full support. It will take time to improve the team so let's have patience. Rome was not built in a day so let's back the boards judgement on whoever they select.

2.) 03 Mar 2017 14:06:39
I'll support whoever comes in but it seems over complicated for me. The guy has to get used to our culture, weather, grub etc. Tommy Wright proved himself the other night, got his subs, tactics spot on and nearly won the game. I think we're making a mistake if we don't try and get Wright in.

3.) 03 Mar 2017 14:09:34
put it this way we have been told there is money there for summer transfers.
but we are never told how much and to be honest i don't think it will be a lot

16 Feb 2017 16:02:22
Think we need to get Big Eck signed on as DoF asap, to guide the inexperienced Murty and to lay down foundations and plans on the build up to summer. Hopefully that would help us secure 2nd place, and in the meantime the board should be doing everything they can to persuade De Boer to come in as soon as this season finishes.

1.) 16 Feb 2017 23:56:30
Don't get that Alex McLeish has the capability or record to be DOF. For a number of reasons, we cannot spend our way out of this - a DOF needs to sort and drive value from the academy, sensibly recruitment with a half an eye to sell on and at the same time equiping the team to compete as we grow by supporting a first team coach - DOF is way different to manager so (much as he delivered) why McLeish?

2.) 18 Feb 2017 15:54:45
Our CEO has said that we are going with a DoF, so we should be looking to secure the best. That surely rules our Macleish. The guy at Southampton, (Wilson), the guy at Spurs, (Mitchell), and the guys at Watford and Huddersfield are all well respected as a DoF, what has Macleish done in the game after he left Rangers and what qualifications has he to do the DoF job?

The DoF will also presumably have a say as to who comes in as Manager and certainly the first two that I have mentioned will know which managers in the game work well within that structure.

If we are going down this route with that quality then we will need investment and I can't see us making such an appointment if serious funding will not be there for the new management team.

11 Feb 2017 12:31:58
Didn't see this happening in what seems a rushed, unplanned manner. Can't change it now so must look forward. Think now is the time to be ambitious and positive, and bring in a manager who is of a high calibre. For me the only candidates that excite me are De Boer and Souness. Wouldn't have McInnes, Wright, O'Neill, or Eck, none of them would bring positive change in my opinion.

1.) 11 Feb 2017 13:28:18
Gary Rowett instead of Souness. Overall agreed but.

2.) 11 Feb 2017 14:00:41
Keep on hearing Souness, does nobody watch Sky Sports, the man is clearly not well.
Also the bring back Walter brigade just let the man enjoy his retirement Christ The Rangers job aged the two of them!
Unsure who to go for though!

3.) 11 Feb 2017 14:05:49
Gary Rowett 👍

4.) 11 Feb 2017 14:14:01
Bongo, how about garry monk at leeds utd or david wagner at huddersfield? I'd also throw in another name that's not been mentioned, nigel pearson! What you think mate? We need to think out the box to all the usual suspects! Another 3 that have been mentioned that i'd have as our next manager are, frank de boer, gio van bronckhurst and jurgen klinsmann!

5.) 11 Feb 2017 14:44:42
Super cooper

Unsure about the first 3 Rangers I think the Rangers job would be to big for them
De Boer maybe, only thing I do know is Billy Davie's no Way.
I'd be raging if he got it .
Tomorrow we'll need to get right behind every one associated with our club give the board a round of applause and I hope yer pal MOH gets a game and none if this 60 min subs if you need to sub after 20 min do it if it's not working .

Come on the Famous Glasgow Rangers!

6.) 11 Feb 2017 14:44:50
Superccoop I have no idea who it will be but 1 thing is certain it will not be anyone from another club you simply cannot afford the compensation.
But then again you guys never live in the real world.

7.) 11 Feb 2017 21:13:03
Supercoop I suggested 'Take no shit' Pearson some weeks agao and I still think he'd be a great shout. He's the man who turned Leicester City round and made them what they are - England's champions.

09 Feb 2017 10:37:10
I think we have all turned very quickly (maybe too quickly) on MW, when you consider progress on targets:

League - On track for European Qual. Place
Betfred Cup - Was a matter of when do we play Celtic, if we meet in the final we still go out.
Scottish Cup - Still in

I am with fans who are losing patience though, particularly after most recent interview claiming dropped points were due to "randomness". That is completely unacceptable, basically saying every game's a lottery and we shouldn't expect to win or draw or lose. That must change, because we do expect to win, and he must deliver wins far more consistently.

We can't and won't replace him with a better manager. I've seen plenty of suggestions and all are either not feasible or not good enough. We should give the team and manager our support until the end of the season and make decisions then.

1.) 10 Feb 2017 00:21:05
I'll rephrase that for you BlueIsTheColour! Not we've all turned against mark warburton! Some of you have turned against mark warburton, far too early IMO! I've always said to wait, and re-evaluate everything at the end of the season! He'll be here until the end of the season, minimum anyway! So fans should get that into their heads and at least support the manager and the team until the end of the season! Then find out where we are and what we do! Warburton AIN'T going anywhere until maybe the end of the season!

Still got two years to run on his contract so there will be a transfer fee, but he's expected to be leaving this summer.

Lansbury would be a fantastic signing, but if we only get two in I'd rather see a CB and a striker. Might be slightly controversial at the moment with his current form but I think McKay will become a fantastic no. 10 for us and should be given a free role in the centre of the park.

I think we should try our best to keep him as he'll almost certainly be worth a lot more than £500k in a couple of years. But trying to compete financially with the wages offer is not the way to go. He'd be picking up bigger wages than half our squad while he's still years away from being ready to play in the first team, that would be a dressing room nightmare!

That we receive £18.75M from the TV deal, while the EPL receive £1.71 BILLION. That's 1% of what they get. Watford got more cash just from selling Ighalo than our entire league receives from what should probably be the biggest income source! If that doesn't seem an imbalance to you, then we can enjoy talking about the poor standard for as long as Scottish football survives for.

Fair play lads. I agree Scottish football's in a bad place currently, but I can't agree that us slating it is the solution. I actually thought the DR made some decent points and are trying to fight our corner, when it seems noone else will!

Ed001 True, but it's hard to sell a product to a broader market when your current customers only leave bad reviews!

{Ed001's Note - then you improve the product and get better reviews.}
