At the game, had a nice dinner beforehand. We have another 2 targets lined up after Danilo and Cifuentes. Our left side of defence is the area in question both LCB and LB.

The focus over the next few weeks will be shifting the deadwood.

On another note: Barisic has been awful all night, no positional awareness whatsoever. Lammers looks like he's going to be wonderful for us.

Disjointed performance. Just heard from a contact they Tavs head hasn’t been in it pre season due to the links with Leeds and Saudi Arabia has turned his head. Somewhat similar to the scenario Kamara was put in last year.

In a nutshell - our defence is not good enough for a title charge or europe and must be addressed urgently. Only 1 positive i can take from the game is Sam Lammers looks very tidy.

We still have players to come in and players to come back from injury so early days, and the quality is there. We need to get the players out that don't have a future and we need to sign a back up keeper.

McCrorie will go and Beale would be crazy to only have McLaughlin as a backup and I don't see him going anywhere unless we pay him off.

God forbid anything happening to Butland because we are in trouble if McLaughlin is in goal as we saw last season.

Most concerning thing for me is our shape a don’t like this playing narrow. we have no wingers and we’ve brought loads of forwards in and creating nothing. 10 days till opening day and we look a right good bit off it. Barasic, Davies and Lundstram not good enough anymore.

Beale saying the legs will be heavy due to the running they`re doing in training, won't see the benefit of it till the season gets going.
So might be a double whammy with the new players getting to know one another and the schedules they`re facing in training.
Thing is, by all accounts there`s a bit of surgery to be done yet with some suggesting there could be as many as 4 new players still to come in.
Then of course there might be a cleaning of house in the other direction so a real transformation of the squad going on here.
Hope they find the correct balance once its all done.

It was pre-season friendly against good opposition. Quite clearly about giving as many players a run out and as said in the thread, probably learnt more tonight than the last 2 games. The old problems are there because it’s the same old faces and a squad that size with players not playing becomes toxic. We need to shift a few and get that 25 gelled. I guarantee those not in the euro squad will down tools.

Seriously get shot off this 1 he’s pish, can’t pass 5 yards etc etc! I would rather we created loads of chances and scored a barrowload and looked solid at the back but it’s pre season! Players aren’t up to speed, we make 4+ subs at a time, we try out different systems and formations that’s what preseason is for.
Give opposition credit they were decent but I won’t be gauging our season on how we perform in these games. I always say they have little bearing resukt wise in grand scheme of things. St Mirren couldn’t win a game last season in league cup and ended up 1 minute away from beating both halves of old firm and had best finish in league for decades.
Saturday is start of pre season proper where we will play close to what our starting 11 will look like with majority of subs not playing until after 69 mins and less of them being used.
Believe in the process and see where we are when competitive games start.
We could of played pish Japanese or lower league teams and won well and learned nothing or done what we have which is better for players.

Lithiums its the same mistakes from the same players as we see in 'the real games'. that's what worries most people. There is still time in the window to correct that, but one thing we don't havs time before CL qualifiers and we will see how patient everyone is if we go out that early.

Concerns re lack of decent goal attempts up top and usual defending frailties from Davies - Souttar looked our only defender on field. Friendly or not hope that this is not a sign of the times and we will be struggling to get a 1 goal win against most of Prem League.
Hopefully Danilo adds goals up front or my head says more of last seasons woes will continue. Our severe press lasted for around 20 mins then we let them dictate play.
Goldson and Souttar should be our partnership going forward (unless LS defender brought in) as Davies will cost us goals/ games this coming season.
Boost from Souttar Lammers and Raskin who played well last night - not much for Dessers to feast on and McCrorie had little to do and rest of team looked very average to poor - Mc Laughlin gives me the fear. Our passing on whole was poor and giving ball away too cheaply. Wonder if we will rue loss of Colaks goals should they not be replaced?

That was a proper full blooded game against the Greeks, they were right at it.
It showed 100% what is wrong with out team in a nutshell.
Bariscs, Tav and Davies are not the quality in defense we need to mount a title challenge.
That is 100% fact!
Sort it now or we are in for a torrid time from some teams this season.
Cannot defend the flanks at all, its a huge issue.

I'm pretty sure that Beale knows where the problem positions are and playing Borna and others in these games highlights that they are part of the squad so anyone wanting to buy them know that they have to pay the going rate if they want them.
I still believe that we will see Barasic, Kamara, Davies and Wright gone by the end of the transfer window, hopefully also McLaughlin and Lundstram.

I would expect us to sign another centre back although in the SPFL for most games I wouldn't be surprised if we had a more attacking line up given that a number of our new midfield players are capable of tracking back and defending as well as carrying the ball forward and we have a strong attacking line up assuming all players stay fit.
