After the talk about Angus Gunn as a possible replacement for Butland thought I'd tune in to the play off to have a look, he's having a shocker.
1.) 16 May 2024 21:31:21
And his night is getting worse….
2.) 16 May 2024 21:33:44
I hope that this rumour is all it was. I had a thought that Nils could be down there to have a chat with one or two free agents and possible homegrown players that are on the bench or in the stands.
3.) 16 May 2024 21:58:15
Cooper (Leeds) is out of contract and at 32 could be a homegrown and very good piece of business his experience and current league he is playing in. All hypothetical, but not unrealistic. That is unless he signs on if they win the playoffs cause who wouldn't want EPL on their CV again.
4.) 16 May 2024 23:14:32
Nanny, Cooper would not be considered homegrown. I don’t recall him having played in Scotland at all at club level, youth or pro. Nonetheless, there are worse CHs out there.
5.) 17 May 2024 07:50:38
I think we can all agree we need some speed at centre back. Cooper not for me.
6.) 17 May 2024 07:50:57
Remember Russel Martin?
7.) 17 May 2024 10:02:35
Cooper would be a decent signing.
8.) 17 May 2024 11:40:27
Hahaha oh my god. Cooper again. What a surprise on this forum. Same names regurgitated for the last 4 managers spanning 6 years.
9.) 17 May 2024 13:59:02
Orangetinted different Cooper mate.
10.) 17 May 2024 15:59:20
Better with Tommy Cooper - because he is magic and can change things for the better, "Just like That".
11.) 17 May 2024 22:01:19
Hearing Jardel has flew in for a medical. ???.
12.) 18 May 2024 00:48:01
Rather mcrorie.

Philippe Clement was sacked as AS Monaco's head coach in June 2023 due to a combination of poor results, failure to secure European qualification, and a general decline in team performances. Here are the key reasons for his dismissal:
1. Failure to Qualify for Europe - Monaco finished the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season in 6th place, missing out on European competition. This was a major disappointment, as the club had aimed for a top-three finish and Champions League qualification.
2. Late-Season Collapse - The team's form significantly dropped towards the end of the season, winning just one of their last six league games. This poor run included heavy defeats to Lyon (3-1) and Rennes (2-0), which sealed their fate outside the European spots.
3. Defensive Issues - Monaco struggled defensively throughout the season, conceding 58 goals in 38 Ligue 1 matches. Their defensive frailties cost them crucial points, especially against direct rivals.
4. Champions League and Europa League Exits - Clement failed to lead Monaco into the Champions League group stage, losing to PSV Eindhoven in the qualifiers. Later, they were eliminated from the Europa League in the knockout play-offs by Bayer Leverkusen.
5. Lack of Tactical Progression - While Monaco had strong attacking talent, there were concerns about Clement's tactical adaptability and the team's inability to dominate key matches consistently.
6. High Expectations from the Club - Monaco's board expected sustained progress, especially after finishing 3rd in the 2021-22 season. However, instead of building on that, the team regressed under Clement.
Ultimately, the club decided a change was necessary to push for Champions League qualification in the following season.
History repeating itself.
1.) 12 Feb 2025 17:51:44
Good post Sima. ?.
2.) 12 Feb 2025 17:56:13
They sold most of their good players.
3.) 12 Feb 2025 17:56:19
Exiting Europe to PSV and Leverkusen isn't exactly surprising as both are very good teams. I am not defending PC but any team in Europe could have exited to either of them.
4.) 12 Feb 2025 18:06:46
What i see is a massive part missed out sima, they want cl but are prepared to sell 5/ 6 players that Clement took from 9th to 3rd in his first season, he gave many young Monaco players thier debut in his second season.
5.) 12 Feb 2025 18:08:53
Exactly Chenks, but sima mentions nothing about that.
6.) 12 Feb 2025 18:24:36
Thing Monaco and Rangers did have in common was Clement had to build both new teams in his second season.
7.) 12 Feb 2025 18:30:47
Exactly you forget to mention that he took them to 3rd the season before and got them champions league qualification. then they sold 5-6 first team players from under him and expected to still get same results.
the season was marked by injuries to key players, Ben Yedder and Keith blade being two and also had a tough time with their defensive line due to fitness issues.
A lot of his tactical adjustments were influenced by the absence of some of his key players. These injuries hindered Monaco's ability to perform consistently, especially in high-pressure matches.
see how it looks if you give the other side of the story Sima.
8.) 12 Feb 2025 18:31:47
Sounds familiar.
9.) 12 Feb 2025 18:40:21
I just want the guy gone .
10.) 12 Feb 2025 18:45:01
I'd of been all for this post sima but it's clearly you trying to push your opinion and agenda on others without giving clement any real credit for what he done at monoco and that was in his first season take them to European football when they were mid table and make them a lot of money on players and introducing a lot of youth to the XI if you'd of gave him his dues then it would've been a fair post.
11.) 12 Feb 2025 19:00:20
He does mention the domestic failings though, and you have conveniently missed that out.
12.) 12 Feb 2025 19:05:26
Sold both his main men in cm, Fofana to Milan and Tchouameli to Madrid am liking how major parts like this are left out.
13.) 12 Feb 2025 19:06:19
That's fair enough storm, but bits shouldn't be missed out to suit people's agenda of wanting clement out mate ?Look at the whole monaco picture like My star and Angus are stating as well as what sima is stating ?.
14.) 12 Feb 2025 19:09:10
Monacos player trading model is the very similar one that we have tasked Koppen to adopt, buy promising young players and sell them on at higher value So you cannot have it both ways, you cannot ask us to trust the process but then tell us he failed because of the process.
Late season collapse
Defensive issues
Lack of tactical progress.
15.) 12 Feb 2025 19:16:41
It's what he's done with our team in 16 months that concerns fans, dosent really matter what he done at Monaco, he's been dreadful here domestically, his style of football if you want to call it that and the type of player and character he goes for does not suit our game, plenty of evidence of that.
16.) 12 Feb 2025 19:10:42
Both us fans and the Rangers Board are deluded. We all think that Rangers are a big club, competing in Europe. That's great but Europe should be a bonus after a successful domestic season. Since 2012 we have had only the odd domestic success.
We need to build domestic success by employing manager, coaches and players from the SPL. Immediately they will know exactly what is required of a Rangers Manager coaches and players . Add in the odd European player who will fit into our pattern.
17.) 12 Feb 2025 19:19:23
Mystar that wouldn't fit the narrative mate. ?.
18.) 12 Feb 2025 19:20:15
The main bit to take from that is PC failed and got the sack the same as he is doing with us ?
Sima no point there really isn't. They will back them and make excuses for him right up till he gets sacked and maybe beyond that.
19.) 12 Feb 2025 19:28:20
So sima you would still expect to be winning trophies after selling 5 first team regulars? Really? As sam of orange says try making it a fair balanced post instead of making it fit a narrative.
20.) 12 Feb 2025 19:35:13
Bits missed out?, he sold players, no tactical progress, collapse, defence probs, injuries, domestic failure, board want results (away), trying to build, all of the above is happening before our eyes at our club, yes it happened at Monaco, he got the sack, before u all jump on me, I'm in neither camp as I'm undecided either way as I've stated over the last few days. If he stays or goes our club will continue. Both sides playing at one-upmanship. But hey ho have fun, because none of us on here will have any impact on whatever happens. Just a few thoughts. Knock yourselves out?.
21.) 12 Feb 2025 19:38:55
I understand what you are saying here and that is what monaco fans warned us about him. But they did sell most of there top players so can't be all his fault. I do feel he's a terrible defensive coach tho maybe his formation works in Belgium but not in scotland he may be successful in other countries but the weird punt up the park and hope to win second balls isn't suited to us either. All that said monaco was a 50/ 50 between him and the monaco board had he not lot they players he might well of never been our manager.
22.) 12 Feb 2025 19:56:29
Everything that has happened at Monaco has and is happening at Ibrox. Forgot to add that in earlier. Everything.
23.) 12 Feb 2025 20:09:24
Sima but we haven't reached that stage yet. you are asking for the manager to go when the model you talk about at Monaco is only 6 months in. at Monaco despite selling his squad from under him they were 2nd until last 7 games when injuries told, finished 6th and because Monaco need European football due to size of crowds and they missed out he was sacked. He had the highest average points for a Monaco manager for 21/ 22 years. so I would argue against the fact that the period he was there was unsuccessful. trust the process but give the process time. 6 months isn't enough. does the next manager get the same time or will we give him 18 months or until he loses away to St Mirren. carry on picking just the points to suit your argument though.
24.) 12 Feb 2025 20:20:36
I totally agree fork ?
Also EHL has told us a few things that some are not really wanting to take in and he also thinks things above need sorted before we look at clement that says a lot to me and something that really should be taking into account
Although what would the forum be if we all seen sense and agreed with each other ?.
25.) 12 Feb 2025 20:26:41
Easy to change the narrative to suit an agenda.
26.) 12 Feb 2025 20:26:52
For not disputing any of that but th problem is if you let one side of a story be the only one then fans tend to believe it whether it is true or not. If the reason I am on here is to influence anything the club does then I am more stupid than I think. I am on as I (normally) like the banter. It is vicious at the moment and not enjoyable. not sure why I continue to post really.
27.) 12 Feb 2025 20:35:46
Agree its nasty?.
28.) 12 Feb 2025 20:38:48
Car crash Angus, u know u shouldn't look but can't stop yourself.
29.) 12 Feb 2025 20:51:13
Fork great post but some still can't see it.
Manager has to sell players that happens at the majority of clubs all over the world, i can't believe people are making excuses about him failing at another club ?.
30.) 12 Feb 2025 20:52:22
Fort all i'm saying is things get missed out to prove the point he was trying to make.
31.) 12 Feb 2025 21:02:48
Angus, your one of a very select few that gives a balanced view and it's so true that fans will beleive one side of a story if the other isn't told. I think that's something you bring to the page the other side of the story / stats etc and something you do really well. Keep it coming, mate.
32.) 12 Feb 2025 22:09:26
I get that Star. I'm on neither side here, bud, as I've stated all week, I'm just pointing out that everything that happened at Monaco is also happening or has happened at our club just now. There is very little or no difference.
33.) 12 Feb 2025 22:57:27
Fork you watch you don't fall off that fence your sitting on ?.
34.) 13 Feb 2025 02:28:39
Walter smith second time round got 3 years and so did stevie g lol just saying.
35.) 13 Feb 2025 04:28:28
But walter started winning things pretty quickly lithium ?Walter Smith stands head and shoulders alone above everyone ??.
36.) 13 Feb 2025 06:13:04
Skelfy arse mate??.
30 Jan 2025 18:15:54
Sky are reporting Salah could join the SPL
Ross county would be dangerous with him on the wing.
14 Aug 2024 14:25:27
It's a difficult time to be a Rangers fan.
There is so much doom and gloom around the club at the moment, we don't seem able to pick ourselves up off the deck . Whenever we have a decent game and let's be honest there haven't been many the last couple of seasons it's normally followed by a shocker. I don't think I can ever remember a period when there isn't a hero on the park for us, as a young fan would I want a poster of any the current squad on my bedroom wall I don't think so. Wheres our John Grieg, Davie Cooper or Colin Stein .
We need to find a spark from somewhere because at this moment in time the fire is out.
25 May 2024 23:24:09
Hi everyone, well we lost as expected but not in the manner we expected. Was reading that we are in talks with Brighton regarding Sima approx 10 million my point is
Do you think we should forget about Sima and spend the money on Miovski and Shankland?
11 May 2024 17:30:43
Sadly the game panned out exactly how I thought it would.
A static midfield which allowed their midfielders to run off them at will, how many shots before the opening goal .
Tom Lawrence and John Lundstram shouldn't play for Rangers again, the own goal was poor but the pointless lunge was the behaviour of a cheat it was worse the feigning injury.
If you don't win the midfield you cannot win the football match unless you have a couple of world class strikers and we don't. Because my expectation level was so low I'm not felling as bad as I should which is a worry in itself. Mr Clement needs to have a look in the mirror he will not be allowed to keep on failing against them.
11 Jan 2025 13:15:23
What player has improved in Clement's tenure?, we’ve had the odd player that has played well for 4 or 5 matches. koppen has recruited a couple of players that look promising. If Clement was the manager we need at this moment in time then how is our away form so bad for so long it doesn’t make sense.
We might be second in the league but to be this far back at this stage is simply not good enough, Clement is a fraud and some simply cannot believe their eyes and the evidence in front of them.
28 Nov 2024 13:57:55
Sam of orange, you make it sound as if he broke up a title winning team, he moved on deadwood that were being paid over the odds. He’s had Had plenty time to show us what he’s got, it’s not happening now or in a further six months time.
02 Nov 2024 19:29:20
We have no pace anywhere so yes Cantwell is missed for that alone.
02 Nov 2024 19:25:39
What if you know you’re a poor manager and would happily sign any extension with any conditions before you get found out.
04 Sep 2024 20:28:36
They aren’t fitter than us we simply lost all confidence became tense and could no longer function properly, it happens in sport. In football it’s amazing the lift you get from scoring a goal especially the opening goal all of a sudden you find an extra yard. It was a tough watch but no way are they fitter.
17 Feb 2025 23:36:16
What a silly way to finish your piece EHL
There will always be supporters on either side of the divide that make outlandish statements but most sensible people just ignore them.
I want Clement out because I just don't think he gets how Scottish football works.
17 Feb 2025 22:59:03
Seriously Stig, do you think you're talking to a group of five year olds.
I believe most of the people that post on this site have been fans of the club for a very long time.
We also know that the club is in a difficult place but that doesn't mean we cannot express a differing opinion to the one you hold. I personally believe we have a half decent group of footballers that are being badly managed/ coached by Phillipe Clement, everything else happening at the club I endorse.
So please don't think you're the only one that understands.
17 Feb 2025 15:30:12
Please do not confuse the process with the project or else we will need to rely on the model. So it doesn't matter what style of football we play as long as we get the results, surely there needs to be entertainment or why do we bother .
17 Feb 2025 12:23:18
No one is arguing with the steps that have been taken to address sustainability
One of the steps isn't keeping a manager that doesn't seem to get the best out of the players he has, we all want to see something on the football field that looks like progression but we are not getting this.
17 Feb 2025 09:44:12
Why do they lose credibility mate, we all need to earn a living .
They are entitled to their opinions just like you mate just because you don't agree with them doesn't make them less valid.
