Reports are saying it was Jurgen Klopp that puts Rohl's name forward.

Agree3

11 Jun 2026 18:44:36
It came from the German media.

11 Jun 2026 19:24:13
Seen the same in a few articles, Star, and as the articles say, it's got to be flattering to have JK sing your praises, pal.

11 Jun 2026 20:06:46
Does Klopp still run RB Football Operations?

11 Jun 2026 20:44:42
Klopp recommends Danny, but wee Billy fae Govan knows better and says Danny is useless. If Danny leaves and we don't win the league next season with the new manager/coach, the same fans who are/were so critical of Danny, Clement, Beale, Gio will be here next year demanding yet another change.

11 Jun 2026 21:15:00
Sir struth so far tonight you have called your fellow fans happy clappers and wee Billy from govan. Why Billy? You got a problem with your fellow fans?

11 Jun 2026 21:54:18
Wishy, yes I do have a problem with some of our fans as some are never happy and constantly demand change and managers sacked at the drop of a hat and not willing to give anyone time - would Gerard be given time now? Absolutely not, and let's not forget that in the 19/20 season, fans were wanting Gerard sacked as well after the home defeat to Hamilton and had the league not been stopped because of Covid, I doubt he would have been here to win the title the following season. The only one I think needed to be relieved of his duties was Martin. Danny came in and got us into a position that nobody thought was possible after Martin.

Yes, we fell away after the split, however, how many times did that happen pre Danny? Norwich fans appreciate Clement but according to some of our fans he was useless. I can guarantee that if we don't win the title next season then there will be calls for a new manager yet again. In my opinion, we as fans need to be careful as we are no longer the same club and don't hold the same attraction as we did in the 90's/00's, and other potential managers will see how managers have been hounded/criticised and may feel it's not worth the hassle applying for the job if they're going to be out of a job after a season.

11 Jun 2026 22:54:18
Our fan base certainly is a very toxic arena.

12 Jun 2026 02:01:02
Sir Struth, here, here, I couldn't have put it any better myself, well put matey.

12 Jun 2026 10:23:21
Been reading this site for a while but 1st time poster, seeing a lot happy for Rohl to go but I can't help but feel the job this devalues the manager's position at Rangers. Look back to Walters 9 in a row, if you look how many managers we had up to 9 in a row and how many afterwards, it's staggering, and I don't offer a solution because I think that's just how it's evolving throughout football, but I'd prefer Rohl stayed, I would have preferred Gio got a proper crack at it as well n took the pain for a season in the hopes nails it next if you get me.

11 Jun 2026 14:56:49
Asked a few people I trust about Danny Rohl to Salzburg. Apparently this has been on the cards for a few weeks although kept very tight. Rohl is very well thought off by the Red Bull team having worked with them previously at Leipzig. He is also very close to the German media and has a great rapport with them.

I am told we have signed 2 players and there announcements are being held off until the club announce Rohl is leaving. Compensation discussions and a contingency plan are already in place.

Agree18

11 Jun 2026 15:17:38
I think it's about 6.6 million comp seemingly?

11 Jun 2026 15:35:17
Bad timing, in my opinion. Pre Season starts in a week. Not sure how to feel.

11 Jun 2026 15:43:03
Any idea who could be in the contingency fourlads?

11 Jun 2026 15:48:50
So, Fourlads, who's our new manager going to be if Danny Rohl is definitely leaving, mate? 🤔

11 Jun 2026 15:56:49
There are 2 very obvious choices, Gerrard or McInnes. Either would do me.

11 Jun 2026 16:01:30
McInnes all day. If it's Gerrard, he better have a really good coach alongside him, Billy Reid maybe.

11 Jun 2026 16:02:01
We're doomed.

11 Jun 2026 16:09:40
Ball***s.

11 Jun 2026 16:10:15
Youngblue, doomed if we stick with Rohl, yes.

11 Jun 2026 16:15:14
If Rohl is to leave, I would want us to try and get Kjetil Knutsen, who is looking for a new challenge, or try and get one of the big names that will be free after the World Cup. Could also through a spanner in the works and piss of Celtic fans by bringing in Robbie Keane.

11 Jun 2026 16:30:15
NewIbroxStorm, it would lose us more than half our support if we even asked Keane.

11 Jun 2026 16:34:44
Rohl is 100% either staying or going.

11 Jun 2026 16:40:17
Ehl. 🤣

11 Jun 2026 16:46:22
He's listening to The Clash as we speak, Ehl. Btw some folk on here will still disagree with you. 😂

11 Jun 2026 16:50:29
Ehl, totally agree lol.
For me there is only 1 place we should be looking and that's Edinburgh at McInnes. I wasn't a big fan before last season, but he had Hearts playing beyond what anyone expected.

11 Jun 2026 17:13:50
Was mentioned at end of season, it was who blinked first from DR and owners, as for it being too late to let him go, I would say, if we got someone in the next couple of weeks, there will be no problem at all.

11 Jun 2026 17:23:12
Players are back next Friday, Cooper.

11 Jun 2026 17:48:40
Peter Pan, we're doomed with either of the names mentioned as well. Surely, got to be better options than those 2?

11 Jun 2026 17:54:09
Not sure I would swap Rohl for Parker.

11 Jun 2026 17:55:00
Younhblue, masses will have you believe we can attract better. Remember we sat for months to end up with Martin.

11 Jun 2026 17:57:41
I don't know how Ehl keeps getting away with these controversial opinions.

11 Jun 2026 18:13:54
I think Danny Rohl will, more than likely, leave over the coming days. This has been in the making for a couple of weeks now. I believe Andrew Cavanagh knew when he briefed the fans at the end of the season, giving full support to Rohl in the eyes of potential new suitors.

His replacement will have already been sought out. Whoever it is, they'll need the full support of everyone.

11 Jun 2026 18:14:09
Storm, there's more chance of you winning the lottery than getting Knutsen.

Even the most casual of football fans know this!

11 Jun 2026 18:20:32
Next Friday star, another week after that getting fit before they kick a ball lol, think we be ok and probably been set up for this for weeks.

11 Jun 2026 18:54:21
Calb, but our options are surely wider than Gerrard and McInnes.

11 Jun 2026 18:57:22
Rohl isn't going anywhere.

Pointless getting excited about replacements.

11 Jun 2026 19:31:43
SKY just announced that Red Bull Salzburg are in talks with Rangers.

11 Jun 2026 20:34:10
McInnes domestically will compete. Beyond Scotland, though, prepare for toilet roll shortages. He has a lot to prove there in Europe. It's a learning curve for Del Boy. Am I jumping the gun?

11 Jun 2026 14:06:46
West ham playing Rangers in friendly 26th july

Agree0

11 Jun 2026 15:50:02
No loyalist, Rangers V West Ham, it is on Sunday 26th of July, mate. 😁

11 Jun 2026 12:35:50
No contact.

Agree8

11 Jun 2026 13:03:44
Not sure that's true at all, Wullie.

11 Jun 2026 13:06:52
Correct Wullie 👍. That's what Sky Sports are reporting, so nothing to suggest Danny Rohl is leaving Rangers at this moment in time. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 13:08:39
Wullie is usually correct. 👍

11 Jun 2026 13:09:35
Loads of sources saying they've contacted us, Wullie. Joe Tiffany now too.

11 Jun 2026 13:12:41
Hearing anything interesting about a couple of photo shoots happening, Wullie?

11 Jun 2026 13:18:18
No smoke without fire.

11 Jun 2026 13:22:25
For my hopes up there. Sooner he's away, the better.

11 Jun 2026 13:22:30
Rohl is going as it stands.

Club have contingency plan in background, and that's why a few pre contract announcements have been held off.

Steven Gerrard lined up to take over.

11 Jun 2026 13:22:51
SWS, Plettenberg works for Sky Germany, I thought. According to him there's been contact between the clubs.

11 Jun 2026 13:27:55
RWN

No agreement as yet between clubs, talks are underway indirectly.

Basically, they've approached Rohl's agents to set things on their way.

11 Jun 2026 13:29:24
Honestly, I was wanting a new manager, but now I'm unsure. To be honest, is Salzburg not on the border with Germany? It means maximum he would only be 6/7 hours drive from his family.

11 Jun 2026 13:29:52
WhatsTheStory, that's also on Follow Follow, was just about to say that Empire, who's quite a big poster on there, had posted that on Follow Follow.

11 Jun 2026 13:31:21
As per Plettenberg, who is a cast iron source on things in Germany/Austria. Also, very close to Rohl.

Exclusive | RB Salzburg are pushing to appoint Danny Rohl as their new head coach with immediate effect.

37 y/o Rohl has already worked for RB Leipzig and could, in principle, envision a return to the Red Bull group.

He was also a candidate for a RB head coach position last summer. #RangersFC

The clubs are already in direct contact as they work on finding a solution.

11 Jun 2026 13:31:49
Genuinely, if they run off to Gerrard I'm done with the club, CBA.

11 Jun 2026 13:34:23
Must be something in it if Sky Sports Germany's reporting it.

11 Jun 2026 13:34:41
I think he could be off, he'd be a 2 hour drive away from Munich, I dread to see who we'd end up with.

11 Jun 2026 13:35:41
Whatsthestory, Don't mean this in a cheeky way, but you seem really sure about the things you post. Do you have insider knowledge? If so, a simple Yes or No will suffice. 😅 Thank you. 🙏🏻

11 Jun 2026 13:40:13
Rfc22, It is indeed right on the border, a 6hr drive from his family. Just checked on G Maps. 😅

11 Jun 2026 13:47:01
Many were sure it was to be Gerrard and it wasn't. Wts may have heard a rumour and is relaying it.

11 Jun 2026 13:47:28
Florian guy is usually spot on. He's definitely off imo.

11 Jun 2026 13:51:15
Easier and quicker to get from GLA to his home than that then.

11 Jun 2026 13:52:01
Rwn

Not entirely, but I'll only post when I feel something is definitive. Like Skoglund not being a target, etc., which was then reported in the media.

I think Rohl will go. And I am positive the club have known about this for a week or so in background. Hence the delay and slowing down of deals.

11 Jun 2026 13:58:06
A week before preseason. I don't want Gerrard, however, I posted a few months ago, I wouldn't be against Scottish only and Gerrard as manager window as it would shut everyone up that it was bound to be the best thing since sliced bread.

imo it should be McIness or someone experienced, but if we lose our manager a week before preseason and 5/6 weeks before the start of our competitive season (Europe) we could be in trouble.

11 Jun 2026 13:58:37
TalkSPORT reporting both clubs are in talks.

11 Jun 2026 13:59:33
So, Ehl, my friend, what's your take? Is Danny Rohl going or staying?. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 14:05:50
Whatsthestory, cheers for the response. 👍

11 Jun 2026 14:07:09
See ya then, Calb. 🤦‍♂️🙈🤣🤣

11 Jun 2026 14:09:27
Stop teasing Ehl, who's in the photo shoot haha.

11 Jun 2026 14:09:43
Ehl one is complete.

11 Jun 2026 14:12:31
Fact is he wants to be wyfamilly.

11 Jun 2026 14:15:04
Direct contact now. Rangers hold the cards. Manager happy to have conversation, but no release clause, so compensation to be agreed.

Should be McInnes for me.

11 Jun 2026 14:15:41
Ac right to say they are backing dr, maximise money coming in for him. 100% they will have a plan in place for him leaving already. Gerrard for me, passion and standards a must.

11 Jun 2026 14:18:39
Will "We look happy". 👀 🎣 😇

11 Jun 2026 14:19:29
SWS, I honestly have no idea.

I've met and spoken to DR a few times and he's always seemed really positive and focussed - but I'm miles away from having any kind of insight into his state of mind in terms of his family, ambitions etc.

I haven't heard anything from anyone I know or trust to say that there is any truth in the rumour - but that doesn't mean it's not true.

11 Jun 2026 14:22:05
Weird comment to make about the only manager to win us a title since Walter Cal. Acting like we are appointing Neil Lennon. 😂

11 Jun 2026 14:31:01
Yep, Stevie G for me, but backed this time.

11 Jun 2026 14:31:51
WhatsTheStory, you state Danny Rohl will go, so I assume you've been told that info and you're a good poster, so I absolutely don't doubt your info, mate. 🤔 If it does come to pass and Danny Rohl does go, who becomes our next head coach/manager for you, mate? 🤔 🇬🇧

11 Jun 2026 14:36:03
Wishy, what parts are weird about it. He walked away once, he turned us away twice. I can decide not to like him.

Congrats, he managed to win a league under odd circumstances, which, he admitted in interviews, no fans helped him keep the players motivated.

So much for your "man manager".

11 Jun 2026 14:44:01
SWS

Gerrard
As it should have been all those months ago. It just feels like time wasted to get to this point now.

It is what it is, and with Stewart and Thelwell gone, he has zero excuses left to knock it back.

11 Jun 2026 14:44:36
Still won one. No one else has managed to do it since, and we have spent crazy amounts of money since he's left.

11 Jun 2026 14:48:45
My understanding is if Danny Rohl was to go, Rangers are looking for a head coach. Steven Gerrard is a manager. This is why he ruled himself out the last time, so I don't think it will be Gerrard, but time will tell.
Same situation with Alonso at Chelsea, with him being manager. Liverpool have appointed a Head Coach in Andoni Iraola.

11 Jun 2026 14:17:20
Trueblue, I would recommend you also stop supporting the club because he believes playing with no fans helped him and the club. 🫡

11 Jun 2026 15:01:37
Doubt he wins another.

11 Jun 2026 15:02:19
I'm hoping Tav signs for someone soon because if it's Stevie G I can see a new contract looming. 😬

11 Jun 2026 15:03:44
Tav new contract with Stevie G both holding up the new home top. 😬

11 Jun 2026 15:04:53
What is the Happy clappers fascination with Gerard? He won 1 out of 9 trophies - Calum Davidson at St Johnstone won more. He won 1 title where Celtic imploded that season, and by Gerard's own admission, in an interview, without fans, that helped the team.

11 Jun 2026 15:07:53
I'm a massive Gerrard fan but I don't think he's the one to take us forward. I'd go get McInnes.

11 Jun 2026 15:10:55
Well he's the only manager to win us a title in 15 years. 👍

11 Jun 2026 15:16:22
SirStruth, This happy clappers pish again.

11 Jun 2026 15:26:18
If Gerrard doesn't have the same backroom staff ie, Gary McAllister and Tom Culshaw, I don't see the draw. He didn't do well any where else since leaving us. I do not have the answers, but we complain about brining back former players yet we pine for a former manager.

Our problem is we don't have 2 to 3 seasons to allow a coach to build his team. We want results now. We are in a cycle that I can't see the exit strategy for. Changing managers and playing style every other season, it's helping.

11 Jun 2026 15:31:04
SirStruth and Others against Gerrard, he had the fraction of the net spend of any other manager since (except Gio) and took over our poorest team ever in the top flight. Made us competitive again, maybe our best run in Europe since the 70's (maybe the excuse for the poor domestic cup record during his first stay), but he delivered 55 and stopped the 10 in a row.

He will restore the standards and have the respect of the players straight away, and if backed we on for 56!! Let's Go!!!

11 Jun 2026 15:35:51
SirStruth, not worth arguing about tbh, he's an awful manager, enough said.

11 Jun 2026 15:47:16
I don't blame him for wanting to be closer to them, John. It must be hard.

11 Jun 2026 16:13:51
Gerrard didn't win the league. Gerrard and Beale did as said by Gerrard himself numerous times. Gerrard on his own or with a new coach is a completely different proposition and I don't want to take that risk. I wasn't against Gerrard and Steve Holland. But that ship has sailed.

11 Jun 2026 16:38:42
Gerrard never won us the league. It was, in fact, Neil Lennon that won us the league by completely losing the Celtic dressing room! Let's remember Callum Davidson with St Johnstone won a cup double in that season where Celtic totally capitulated.

11 Jun 2026 17:10:41
I'm far from a happy clapper lol. Gerrard won the league, something no one else has been able to do. It's absolutely laughable, the revisionism some on here have when it comes to him. He took over an absolute disaster, the weakest we have been in the club's history (lost to Progres summer before), and, within 3 years, had us unbeaten champions and top of the league, with our losing an Old Firm in 12 months when he left.

You can dislike him for leaving and the way he left, that's fair enough, but don't act like he didn't do a good job. And don't champion a manager who's failed every big test he's had at the club since arrival while slagging Gerrard either.

11 Jun 2026 17:17:23
We got 102 points when we won the league. It wouldn't have mattered how good Celtic were or weren't.

Celtic won the title this year with 5 more points than they got in our 55 season, so not as shambolic a season as some may think.

They were blown away by ruthless consistency on our part, and every time they stuttered it seemed bigger because we were in no danger of letting up.

11 Jun 2026 17:25:23
Prytz, we were unbeaten in the league and conceded about 15 goals. It didn't matter who was in charge of Celtic.

11 Jun 2026 17:34:21
Chris Jack confirming talks. 👍

11 Jun 2026 17:45:01
13 btw. 👍

11 Jun 2026 17:53:58
Winning the league doesn't automatically make him a good manager. Villa fans said his transfer strategy of I'm Steven Gerrard I want this guy could have set them back if they kept him for another window. They were stuck with those players for years who Emery instantly dropped.

Fact is he's had one good season as a manager and it wasn't under proper circumstances.

If he doesn't get his backroom staff 100%, we are in trouble, because he's certainly not going to be the brain of it all.

11 Jun 2026 18:09:39
I'm not arguing he's the second coming of Pep Cal, I just think he gets major disrespect for his achievements with us. Some of these comments on this thread are ridiculous. 😂 He wouldn't even be my first choice, I'd want McInness.

11 Jun 2026 18:14:57
He's an intruder he's pis* and he needs gone

11 Jun 2026 19:12:22
Wish, Gerrard had three seasons to get his team to win the league, that was something like seven transfer windows. Rohl has had one so far.

11 Jun 2026 19:26:38
Not really disrespect, it's an opinion on his ability as a coach. I'm not one to say the old 1 in 9. I appreciate his efforts and what he did for us, but it's only the last few months he's come out and spoke about how he regrets leaving us after his "move to Saudi to revive his career" failed.

He's finally opened up, and is taking responsibility for his failings at Villa, where he previously blamed everyone else but himself.

Great talker, I'll give him that.

11 Jun 2026 19:36:23
Thought you liked Stevie G, Stevie G, terrible thing to say about him. 👀😉🤣

11 Jun 2026 20:02:42
Fraser, I agree he needs time. He's still failed every big test, but, like Gerrard, I think he would come good given the time. It looks like he wants to go, though, so if so we need a replacement, and I don't get the Gerrard slander.

11 Jun 2026 20:04:05
Cal, he didn't cover himself in glory at Villa I agree, but we aren't the Premier League and he did a good job here.
In Saudi he had Jack Hendry up against Cristiano Ronaldo etc, so it's not like he was expected to win anything, so I don't think he failed over there in all honesty, just done average.

If he comes back he needs a strong back room team. I'd still rather Mciness.

11 Jun 2026 23:54:57
This is like Groundhog Day. I feel like I am stuck in a never ending loop of Gerrard / McInnes. Same chats, same arguments.

😱 😱 😱

11 Jun 2026 11:39:19
RB Salzburg have apparently made an approach for Danny Rohl.

Florian Plattenburg reporting on X

Agree5

11 Jun 2026 12:04:58
Massive news, and judging by his wording on that tweet - one that could move quite quickly. I think it's probably best we move on. He done a decent enough job rallying a squad we knew wasn't good enough but has no credit in the bank now what so ever.

11 Jun 2026 12:07:30
Here we go again, queue the Gerard noise now.

11 Jun 2026 12:09:28
An absolute disaster if true. All players profiled for Rohl's style of play. Like him or not, we need to find similar manager or just don't let him go.

11 Jun 2026 12:10:57
The way we finished the season, not sure that's a bad thing.

11 Jun 2026 12:11:11
Exactly what a thought with the wording he will be away, got a feeling if he goes, the board will go for McInnes.

11 Jun 2026 12:12:11
Usual suspects will be Gerrard and McInnes that are thrown about with a sprinkling of Muscat.

11 Jun 2026 12:12:45
According to Sky Sports, Danny Rohl is only one of a number of names RB Salzburg are looking at as their next manager and no contact or talks have taken place between the clubs as of yet. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 12:17:26
Might not be the worst news, he was undone in the games that mattered most and record against the top 6 wasn't good enough. Obviously players have to accept part of the blame there too.

11 Jun 2026 12:17:40
Gerrard 🤔
McInnes 🤔
McKenna 😳
Frank 😁🤣
Edwards. 🙈🤣

11 Jun 2026 12:21:32
None of the above. ⬆️

11 Jun 2026 12:23:16
I'm begging, please don't start the Stevie G and Muscat fish!

11 Jun 2026 12:26:09
I'm pretty sure we won't be looking for any manager because Danny Rohl will remain Rangers head coach/manager. 👍

11 Jun 2026 12:32:45
Ayrshire, this may have legs as there are a pile of places now starting to report this. Sounds like if it is going to happen it will be quick. Hope we get a good fee, as suspect it won't just be DR, but backroom team, plus we would need to move quickly to appoint a manager, so we could have to pay compensation to another team too.

Given that 49ers have close ties with RB teams, I don't think agreeing compensation would be an issue.

11 Jun 2026 12:33:53
It's not a disaster if Rohl leaves. I think it's a blessing. Unfortunately the guy I'd have wanted has left Motherwell already, but tbh, Gerrard or Muscat for me. Gerrard didn't get money to spend, and he did sign very well. He knew exactly what to do in terms of signing players.

11 Jun 2026 12:38:10
If Rohl does leave, then imo we need to spend more money on a higher quality of manager. Absolutely no Gerrard, knock us back twice now & no other club wants him. Only reason he won the league is he was allowed time to build a team & no other managers have been allowed that time.

McInnes is a no too, just choked the league after sitting at the top for pretty much the whole season. Muscat is having a nightmare in the CSL. Might leave cause of that.

11 Jun 2026 12:38:15
It would seem a bit strange for someone like Florian Planttenburg to put that out there if there wasn't anything to it, whether it happens or not, I'd hope it would happen soon.

11 Jun 2026 12:40:34
Sir Walter, I would've agreed with you, but the connection with Red Bull could sway this one - just a hunch!

Like you, I firmly believed AC and DR when they said that he wasn't going anywhere. However, things change and this could very well be true.

I'd prefer that we stick with DR, as we are so close to Pre-season, have transfer targets in play, and Euro qualifiers soon to be upon us. However, could be that it would suit all parties.

11 Jun 2026 12:42:22
Aye, I don't think now is the time, 6 weeks ago was.

11 Jun 2026 12:45:41
Hey Chasni, absolutely valid to want Gerrard or Muscat. It's your opinion, which I respect.

Although, surely there are other managers out there that haven't knocked us back that would be a good fit?

We've debated Gerrard returning and Muscat loads of times. imo they won't come, and tbh there are other better candidates that I believe are out there.

11 Jun 2026 12:46:55
Muscat team were docked points and lost players.

11 Jun 2026 12:52:00
I pray to the almighty that this is true. Gerrard for me. Say what you will, and you will say plenty, but he left for reasons every single one of us would (family proximity, money, ambition), and we have never been the same without him.

Rohl has never won a big game, including losing every single 'cup final' after the split, until the last day friendly. If this is true, the board have played a blinder as we will get money for a dud.

11 Jun 2026 12:55:30
I don't think it's great, especially at this point in the season. We're a week away from starting preseason. We're told that Rohl would be going nowhere and he'd be our coach next year. I would imagine that we have scouted and approached players who will fit into the profile he wants.

For us to lose him now would mean more time needed to find another manager, back room staff, different players possibly. And we're only about a month away from our European Qualifiers.

It's a no from me.

11 Jun 2026 12:58:37
SWS, Plettenberg (Sky Germany) ended his tweet by saying the clubs are in talks. So don't know where you've got that from, bud.

11 Jun 2026 12:59:04
Here's my 2 cents:

At the end of the season, I was 60% for letting Rohl go and 40% that we should keep him and back him. I was fine either way, but once the decision was made I felt we should back him.

Now, I believe Rohl and Cavanagh were honest when they spoke. I also believe things have changed since then because of Rohl's affection for RB, and he is defined as a RB style coach. He's not all the way home, but closer to home, and he still gets what he was looking for, a team to challenge for trophies.

On our side, it will appease a large portion of the fan base and bring added income into the club. It also removes that pressure of no more slip ups. Florian Plattenberg is a great journo, and rarely wrong. He's also German, and in Germany, where Rohl has been since end of season, so I expect he's more likely to be accurate than British media.

Now, the main point, I don't want Gerrard or McInnes.

I don't even know who I want but we need to be going for a manager who plays an attacking brand of football, that is work ethic heavy and a good man manager. Preferably someone who has managed teams to titles and most likely currently out of work or available for a low compo fee. Due to our striking options I'd like a manager who plays a 2 striker system as well.

Reason I don't want McInnes is as mentioned above that league was free for Hearts but they collapsed post winter window. He's also knocked us back before and I think Hearts were a horrendous watch.

Gerrard (not going to say 1 in 9) knocked us back twice, lost the dressing room at Villa, and done nothing in Saudi. He is not the answer people cling to him because he says some stuff and pumps his fist, stopped the 10 and that's it. For every successful signing there were multiple stinkers.

11 Jun 2026 12:59:43
Don't think the owners will be difficult to deal with to be honest, think they have listened to some senior x players of what's needed at Rangers and our signings this summer might show this, but the big one is the manager to implement this.

I don't know if Dr has it in his locker, although he does deserve more time. Rangers need a figurehead, but only my opinion.

11 Jun 2026 13:02:25
I'll look out my blue suit and brown brogues.

11 Jun 2026 13:07:47
DJBranger, McInnes didn't choke the league. We all saw what went down in the last few weeks of the season. Should've been Hearts title with a couple of games to go. If Rohl was to leave, then I'd say we'd be lucky to have McInnes if it happened.

11 Jun 2026 13:11:10
Ehl, obviously, if you can't say that's fair enough, but from your adventures on the 7s pitch - is this something from your opinion that's been a possibility?

11 Jun 2026 13:11:11
U up for the Hearts job. 😇

11 Jun 2026 13:30:07
Good post, AyrshireMurphy.

11 Jun 2026 13:44:48
Agree, Murph. 👍

11 Jun 2026 13:58:02
How can you say Gerrard didn't get any money? He was the reason we were skint after he left.

If Rohl goes I will be hugely disappointed. We need stability for a longer period of time. We can't just keep changing every couple of months. That's what's killing us.

11 Jun 2026 13:59:51
Gerrard didn't get money to spend??? Sick of this narrative. Best part of 45 million on transfers, never mind wages.

11 Jun 2026 14:15:00
Rangers have done prep. Met to English managers before Scottish Cup final.

6.5 million good return if he leaves.

11 Jun 2026 14:31:45
John - that is good money if he does leave.

AC etc aren't mugs. They will have been preparing for all scenarios.

Out of curiosity, John, what's your thoughts on dr? Apologies if you've stated and I've missed it.

11 Jun 2026 14:33:43
Seen that figure earlier. 👍

11 Jun 2026 14:35:10
You've already eluded to Scott Parker, John. 🤔
Is the other one Steven Gerrard. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 14:38:55
My issue is Cavanagh, and Rangers' ambition is not matched by Rohl's ambition re Rangers.

11 Jun 2026 15:43:05
Geesadot, don't agree that he left us skint! We made at least 30mil back on just 2 players in Bassey and Aribo, both Gerrard signings.

11 Jun 2026 15:55:02
Your issue is Andrew Cavanagh, John. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 15:46:36
Athole from day we appointed him he is interested in using us for his means, ie return to Germany or an rb club

Athole. This is twice so far our club appears to be unstable, , he is simply a project, if he does not go now we will go thrithis again by Christmas.

If he stays we know what the press conferences will be about again

His tactics and team selection leaves a lot to be desired

11 Jun 2026 16:31:53
👏🏻 Agree, John, 100%! No Rangers manager should've survived what happened after the split in my opinion.

11 Jun 2026 16:40:28
SWS, I think he's saying the issue is Cavanagh, and Rangers have higher ambitions than Rohl does for Rangers. That's how I read it anyway.

11 Jun 2026 17:03:41
Walter, what remaking up now.

The issue is certainly not Cavanagh. He wants the manager to see out his contract, as he thinks we change too much.

11 Jun 2026 17:05:09
Ayrshire. Cavay wants best for Rangers. Rohl wants best for Rohl.

11 Jun 2026 17:48:45
Interesting John. Thank you for the candid answer.

You would think/hope AC would see this misalignment. I think the sentiment is correct, though we do need to settle on the right person and give them time.

Is DR that person? Popular opinion is turning against him, I'd say.

11 Jun 2026 17:51:10
So Rangers are second to his own ambition,

"Rangers Football Club. Do not enter unless you are ready to put yourself second - and that should be the one and only time second is good enough for you."

Walter Smith.

Enough said.

11 Jun 2026 18:12:17
Here, here, Fork!

11 Jun 2026 19:10:12
Can't disagree, Fork.

11 Jun 2026 22:27:41
How many people have applied that over the last 15 years in our club?

Scarily, probably very few.

11 Jun 2026 23:14:42
Rohl can go glad to see the back of him.

11 Jun 2026 23:32:36
SWS.

You are relentless. I wouldn't be so confident about that this time.

The journalist broke the Naderi and Skov Olsen transfers to us.

This is the strongest indication that Rohl could be away this summer.

11 Jun 2026 23:5 9:57
The money Gerrard spent was over 3 seasons though was it not? We've spent more in the last year. Not saying I'd like him back but it averages out to about 10/15mil per season he spent. He didn't have the type of funds that Martin and Rohl have had.

11 Jun 2026 08:20:33
I was sent a message last night that Butland could be away that he is actively speaking to other clubs has anyone heard anything about this or is it just BS as tbh I don't think we'd miss him as much as we think!

Agree2

11 Jun 2026 08:44:54
He is good, but not great, especially with his feet and near post. Time to move him on and get him off the wage bill and replace with a younger keeper who is good with his feet, as that's the modern day keeper now.

11 Jun 2026 08:46:48
I definitely think Danny Rohl would sell Jack Butland in a second, as he clearly wants a goalkeeper who, as well as being a good shot stopper, he wants him also to be good with his feet. 🤔 I do think the experienced Stefan Ortega would be a good signing for us, and ticks all the boxes for me, but I still would prefer us to sign Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

🤔 🇬🇧 If, however, it came down to a straight choice between Stefan Ortega and Angus Gunn, I'd definitely much prefer Ortega all day long. 🤔 🇬🇧

11 Jun 2026 10:32:26
The idea of having a keeper who is good with the ball at his feet is not new. When Brendan Rodgers first took over Celtic, he signed a keeper to replace Craig Gordon. Rodgers often spoke about teams having 10 footballers and a keeper, whereas he wanted eleven footballers. However, the keeper he signed to replace Gordon was not as good at stopping shots. There was unrest amongst their fans, and they quickly went back to Gordon. Shot stopping is the most important aspect.

If you want a keeper that is a great shot stopper, and is good with the ball at his feet, then that's going to be difficult to find.

If Rangers have a proper number 6 who can split the defense, then he can pick the ball up from the keeper and bring it out from there. It would bring an end to the long balls.

Many of Rangers' problems are caused by a lack of a number 6. We can't play 4-3-3, we lose shape, our build-up play isn't great. Also, towards the end of last season Butland's shot stopping was extremely poor. I think statistically he was one of the worst in the league. I don't trust Butland with distribution or shot stopping, and think we just need to get rid of him.

11 Jun 2026 10:40:22
For me, Butland has had good games here and there, but overall he's been disappointing over his time here.
He's never really had a good Old Firm game in comparison to when McGregor was in goals.

I just think it would be best to part ways.
He's been part of the so-called leadership group that's not really done anything.
So, move on and hopefully get a good replacement for him.

11 Jun 2026 11:22:53
It's all about shot stopping for me. Shagger is prof.

11 Jun 2026 11:55:55
Ortega may be good with the ball at his feet but he is not a great keeper and signing Gunn is a massive downgrade on Butland (and by the way, he is not good with the ball at his feet either). I'm not saying that Butland's kicking times weren't woeful (so was McGregor's, as someone has said), but we shouldn't ignore some of the ridiculous situations he was put in by our back 4 messing around, then rolling it back to him as soon as they were pressured.

If we can improve on Butland, great, but any new keeper has to be able to do the keeper things as well as pass well. By the way, Newcastle have just paid £18 million for a 20 year old keeper from the French 2nd division so replacing Butland with someone decent won't be cheap.

11 Jun 2026 12:00:40
Alex 84, you make a good point about the leadership group - imo they have been part of the problem for a few years now. Fresh leadership in the dressing room required.

11 Jun 2026 13:03:12
There is interest in Butland, but all moves would require him going back down south to be Number 2.

10 Jun 2026 23:04:19
Has anyone heard the rumour than now Angus Gunn has been released from Nottingham Forest we are interested in him to replace Super Jack.

Agree1

11 Jun 2026 04:18:01
Posted that we had talks to some degr.

11 Jun 2026 08:18:39
Posted on here a few weeks ago that we had previously held talks to some degree with his management team.

I would like 3 good GKs if we can. If we could get Gunn and the young GK from Sheffield Wednesday, I think that would offer a massive upgrade on that department on last year and previous years, also add competition.

11 Jun 2026 08:29:31
Hmm is not a good keeper. He's a rotten gk man. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

11 Jun 2026 08:36:57
He's really poor. Don't think he will be coming here thankfully.

11 Jun 2026 08:43:47
Would much rather have Stefan Ortega as opposed to Angus Gunn. 🤔 Ortega much better keeper for me, but I'd still want Pierce Charles as my preferred choice for us to sign. 🤔🇬🇧

11 Jun 2026 08:50:59
So AR, assuming we got who you want ie. Angus Gunn and Pierce Charles with Liam Kelly still at Rangers, who would be our no.1 in your opinion mate. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 10:18:33
If it was me selecting our 3 GKs this season, I would be asking Craig Gordon and the kid from Sheffield Wednesday to sign.

I would only go for Gunn if we couldn't get Gordon.

Craig Gordon would be a selective number one in 2/3 to 1/2 the games, and I would firmly bed in the younger GK (Charles).

Would be reluctant to throw a GK so young straight into our first 11 and tell him he was no1.

Think EHL could talk to that better than I can.

But I would go get Gordon over Gunn all day long, like Liam Kelly, he would work well with a younger GK within that group.

11 Jun 2026 10:34:55
I would not have Craig Gordon at this football club. When we were in the lower leagues Gordon was all but retired. We brought him out of retirement and helped get him fit and playing again. He thanked us by signing for Celtic shortly after. That doesn't sit well with me and never will.

11 Jun 2026 11:37:42
Craig Gordon was never brought out of retirement, we offered him training facilities. Rangers at no time wanted to sign Gordon, as we were sure he was finished.

11 Jun 2026 11:46:03
Rohl, Craig Gordon wanted to stay with Rangers, I can assure you, and Ally McCoist wanted to keep him, and Charles Green wouldn't sanction the permanent contract for McCoist to keep Gordon. 🤔 Gordon still speaks highly of how the Rangers medical team got him back to full fitness and playing football again, and has said this many times in interviews.

👍 He thanks them so much and will be forever grateful for them saving his career. 🤔

11 Jun 2026 11:59:33
If we were wanting to sign Gordon as backup to play a couple of games a season, why have we kept Kelly to do the same thing? I would only sign Pierce Charles if his brother wanted to come as well.

11 Jun 2026 13:04:44
When Gordon was getting fit at Rangers, we demanded that he played a few reserve games to prove his fitness, which would have nullified his injury insurance. He then went to Celtic.
