Did someone not post recently we had met the lad, but withdrew due to the potential risk issues with his heart and defib?
The heart issue was discovered at Volendam roughly half way through his deal there.

it is about whether or not we want to pay 1 player 68k euros per week (or 3.5M per annum), plus whatever increase he is looking for on top of that. he didn't choose us last time I imagine because of the financial package available so would he go for it this time. He is an orc player who a good few top teams are interested in, e.g. Leeds, Villa, Newcastle and Wolfsburg.

also if we pay him that then it unsettles the salary that every other player gets. and whilst ffp possibly may not be an issue then our turnover hasn't increased that much so we might be at risk of breaking the 70% FSR salaries to turnover ratio.

We have been after Doekhi since the Gerrard era when he was still at a lower level dutch club, but he chose Union Berlin over us.
Gio wanted him too so he well regarded as a quailty CB.
No reason why we couldn;t get him now, we can definitely afford the wages he is on at 50k a week and he is captain material in our league all day long.

Maybe he is the defensive captain from the german league that is out of contract that keeps getting mentioned on here?

Paul not quite true mate, he was playing at a lower level than Rangers at Vitesse Arnhem where he was the team captain, prior to Union Berlin and we have had far higher quality dutch players than him in our teams, Ronald De Boer, Frank De Boer, Artur Numan, Michael Mols, Fernando Ricksen, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst. many of whom were dutch internationals and came to us from bigger clubs than union berlin.

so will we sign a 26yo international footballer valued at £25M and getting 74k per week. Everton will have or will be holding contract talks with him and I suspect he would want a wage rise if not at them then for the club he eventually signs for.

also suspect a multi-million pound signing on fee; let us just say £3m for the same of it. so are fans seeing Rangers buying a player even ooc if he is going to cost £12.5M in wages plus that signing on fee spread over 3 years at £20k per week. so £100k per week for 1 player. a no from me as I don't see it as financially possible.

Tend to agree that wages could be an issue for us but could look at it that we get a £25m+ player for zero, he's 26 and will have a sell on value. So we could be 'brave' and look to recoup the wages when selling him in future.

I mentioned Eric Martel late last night.
The only info I have on this is that we have spoken to his representatives recently. Rohl knows him personally and he came through the German national youth setup. Martel has lots of options from other European leagues.
Let's wait and see what happens.

Unfortunately I have no info on our links to Doekhi, my understanding from contacts down south is that Leeds were pushing hard for this one. Everyone has different contacts and information though.

Doekhi and Fernandez would be a solid pairing, not to mention they are both the current joint top scoring centre backs in Europe.

Though it's clear that Fernandez will finish the top goal scoring centreback in all of Europe by seasons end, was reading an article last week where he scored a hat trick of headers to help his former team win a game 3-2.

lad should be worth 10 to 15 mill by seasons end, a bargain already for the 3.2 mill we payed.

Danihlo doekhi - is currently on 55 k a week before bonuses etc at union berlin so we would have to match that at least, but we save on the 13 to 15 mill he is worth right now.

Fun fact Doekhi is dutch defensive monster Winston Bogarde's nephew, so he has had world class mentoring, both formerly of Ajax

Bogarde in the main Ajax team when they were the Kings of Europe taking the Champions league cup off of defending cup holders AC MIlan in the 94/95 season beating one of milans best sides not once but 3 times in one season, twice in the group stages and again in the final.

Doekhi through the Ajax youth system U19 to U21 with our current striker Danilo, who was held in higher regard than doekhi as our Danilo made it into the main Ajax team as Kluivert Juniors replacment, Doekhi was moved on to Vitesse and seen as surplus to requirements.

Though i'd gladly swap our Danilo for Union Berlins Danilho today.

Saw Celtic scouting maswanhise today, is there anything in the rumours linking him to Rangers?

Scored again today proven himself so far in league this year. Would be a good extra option to play up top or wide and would not cost a fortune.

Or any truth in another well player linked who's a cm?

Where would we play him though?

we already have 4 LW's on the books Moore, Gassama, Matondo, Curtis.

He can play on the RW also as his secondary position but we already have Skov Olsen as 1st choice and his former team mate Antman as 2nd choice currently.

we should be giving Curtis a chance on the RW before we bring anyone else in you can see the lad has that something special about him and it should be nurtured in our team not on loan elsewhere, once Moore's gone then move Curtis to LW again to rotate and compete with Gassama.

do we really need 7 wingers for 2 positions, NO.

Another CF, CB, RB are the areas we need strenghtened in.
