I would love to think that this John Halsted rumour is true . The board have done a fantastic job getting the club back on track after the " charlatan years " but I just feel that an injection of serious money could see us really kick on, under this manager. For all Celtic have been getting money in from the CL and sale of players it was Desmond splashing the cash to get Rodgers the first time and some serious signings that really pushed them in front of us, both on the field and financially. Without going daft, if we had someone with real financial clout behind us it would make a huge difference .

I suppose any investment that might put us in pole position to win the league titles will give us a better chance to gain CL monies. If we've a chance of any cash investment then surely it would make sense to let most if not all player contracts lapse when they're due to expire. Guys like Barasic and Lundstrum still need to show a level of performance to attract other clubs when the time comes. Hence any suitable investment if it's there, should be used where and when needed to replace such players.

Cash investment I'm the club doesn't immediately translate to a transfer kitty.
FFP means we are restricted in terms of what we can spend due to the low level of income that we generate (in comparative terms) .
This is probably the real reason we haven't seen major investment in either us or Celtic.

There are clever ways around FFP as long as you don`t kick the arse out of it, there must be, otherwise the State owned clubs couldn`t invest the money they do. I`m not saying put in hundreds of millions but there could be a chance to increase sponsorship deals, sponsor the stadium etc that would allow him to put in a few million. Desmond does it through Magners. We can`t attract major sponsors because of the league we`re in but if there was someone who wanted to pay better money for this regardless of the league it would start us on a path that would hopefully mean more CL qualifications and wins when we get there . Speculate to accumulate, unfortunately we don`t have the cash to do the initial speculating at the moment.

Stadium sponsorship and extra sponsors on strips as example, sponsoring training tops perhaps.
All ways of generating income u otherwise wouldn’t have.
If someone with connections to the club wants to sponsor certain things then that’s a way around the problem of financial restraints.
I would do it with guidance of legal experts and stick within what they advise.

Stormtrooper there are more to the issues with EPL clubs than just a shareholder investing a few million in the club in a clever, legal way. Man City have all they charges against them by the EPL but UEFA won`t touch them . let's wait and see if the EPL have the balls to do anything . If thev`ve won all they trophies and made all that money and then get hit by a fine no matter how big they`ll say it was worth it and move on . It seems ridiculous to me that City, balance the books, invest in the local infrastructure and make huge profits and get done for FFP when others post losses year after year and they are deemed okay.

Don't understand why folk seem happy to take Wright but are unhappy with Lammers even though they've scored the exact same amount of goals in their career and Lammers actually has a good few more assists. I know there's more to it than just nose numbers but over all there's very little between them.

I never said Ranger were “penniless”. But the club cannot afford to spend £7m on one player during a summer rebuild when at least 6-7 new guys will come in. What money Rangers do have will be spread across a few players. If Rangers spend the guts of £7m on Dessers, Cifuentes, and Panzo, then my guess would be the summer budget has gone. I think the club would need to sell before they can buy beyond that.
Rangers really need to improve on their player sales so when the transfer windows open up they have more financial clout to go and make a real impact. The sales of Patterson, Aribo, and Bassey were very profitable but I struggle to think of any more beyond that. For the most part, the club spend more than they make during transfer windows and that’s been happening for over a decade now. They really need to improve in this area and hopefully a new DoF is the first step towards doing that.
