Wish him all the best in his new venture, wonder if Goldsons staying to Captain new squad with Butland as Vice capitano, makes sense they would.
Cant see a brand new cap and vice cap being brought in would be a disaster with so many new young lads coming into 1st team, Goldson still has 2-3 on his contract and pairs nicely with Balogun.

SWS, why do you think most of us who want Tavernier to move on are bashers?
We all realise that his race is run as our Captain and first choice right back.
There is no getting away from what he has contributed towards the club and has had his fair share of plaudits and “bashers”
However we need to move forward and keeping the likes of Tavernier, Goldson, Hagi, Wright etc will not allow us to achieve that.
Let’s try to get a decent sum for him, I expect no more than £4m and wish him the very best for the future.

SWS all about opinions. Mine is that he is done and should go. I standby my opinion that he has not been a successful Rangers Captain. Poor trophy count. His stats are unquestionably good but added to trophy count they are meaningless.

Tav was good, he isn't now and it's been increasingly visible lately, age has taken some yards from him, also suspect positionally at times, no bones about it he was a great player, think if he stays it costs us more than he is now able to offer, personally don't want to see the guys rep take a hit, for me he best move on with gratitude fir what he did give us. The amount of people who want Tavernier to leave because of his defending but also want Souttar to stay ?? Souttar and Goldson have been at fault for the majority of goals conceded this season. Tavernier being the problem in our defence is the worst peddled myth in this clubs history. Those also talking about his form should probably look at how we’ve been playing. Diagonal pings from CB hardly work in Tavs favour, or anyone elses for that matter. We’ve been utter dross to watch for years with no clear identity. Funny under Gerrard with a convincing style and a disciplined structure Tav was part of a record breaking back 4.

Never rated Tav. Can't deny his goal contribution but all he is interested in is his stats, spends time at training working on set pieces but he never attempted to improve his defending or reading of the game. Cost us so many goals and the goals he has scored haven't helped us win much. Unfortunately for Tav, you don't get many titles for scoring pens.

Tav has been an absolutely fantastic signing, practically buttons, his forward contributions has been simply outstanding for a right back, yes he has been at fault for goals but his over all good contributions far far outweigh the bad, I for one will be er forget the good games he has given us during what can only be described as turbulent times, he's been captain through many years with the likes of Gerrard and gio who has played at the very top, that can't be a coincidence, as much as I wouldn't have had him as captain as I'd prefer a more Gough type mould he has stood up and took criticism at every turn with dignity, I do feel it's best we part ways, no matter what happens this year I'll always have great memories of the man.

If Tav is sold it's a no brainer Sterling takes the RB position, more pace, stronger on the tackle. will he score as many goals no he won't, but we need more goals coming from all areas.
Goldson is still the most consistent and experienced CB we have in the squad right now, if he stays makes sense the experienced pairing for CBs woudl be Goldson and Balogun.
what happoens with Davies and Souttar?
Nsiala and another solid young CB may partner him?
Only issue with Nsiala initially will be communications, he only speaks fluent french and some italian, of course french people usually speak fluent french.
Lad has great potential, looking forward to seeing his debut performance for us in the first team.

Coisty c'mon bud - Record breaking back four? only because fans were not present (any criticism from stands and they go into their shell) - our defence has been a laughing stock for years
Sunmary
1. Tavs - great going forward but defensive duties lacking 90% of the time - no point scoring loads goals but cannot stop them at back - legs now going - unfortunately that is clear to see
2. Goldson - cannot get a DRecord under him when he jumps and constantly finger points when mistakes are made (mostly his) - very poor in opposition box and short of pace now
3. Barasic - great crosses at times but again defensive duties lacking and severe lack of bottle when big games occur
4 Balogun - best of bad bunch and only wish he was 10 yrs younger/ fitter to have had him in his prime- great general attitude
5 Souttar - slow but reasonable in air but injuries still a concern
Youth / positional sense and leaders required in back four please ASAP
IMHO we have muddled by with our defence for years and years and surely all must see that it needs major surgery if we are to be a serious threat - change old guard NOW or further pain will come our way next season that's FACT!

Goldson can't organise himself let alone a full team so him being captain is a joke. Saying he's our most consistent CB means nothing when you're not winning anything. I'd like Butland to get the armband as there is no one else that deserves it.

Tav is definitely going nowhere, love him or loath him he is staying, I personally have been a fan of Tav and I have always believed in players who play for the jersey, Tav is one of them, I do agree that maybe it best that he moves on as the times are changing, however he will not be leaving until the end of season 24-25.

Let's be honest from day one even in the championship Tav has been an awful defender absolutely one of the worst I've seen at rangers in my life time. Sure he scores goals and pens the odd free kick and some assists but he takes every corner every free kick so he should be getting assists and goals ? people saying who will replace his goals ? we've replaced mccoist we've replaced hateley we've replaced de boer it's football ? the fact we've relied on a guy who costs us multiple goals a season is mental we've allowed him to cost us season after season because he scores mostly pens ? this isn't Tav bashing it's facts the only people happy to see him stay are Celtic fans the absolutely love him playing for us because they know he will give them goal after goal every single season. In 10 years he's never learned to defend never learned when to attack and when not to either. I for one will be very glad to see the back of him apart from goals he shouldn't of been here 3 seasons never mind 10. A defender who can defend more than anything would be a bonus. 3 trophies in 10 years for any rangers captain is absolutely not on.
