Think the talk was he would cost 4-5m quid I think we will maybe spend that on a striker and a CB I think all the other signings will be frees, loans or maybe signings like Garcia and galdames only 6 month left on their deals so a cut fee.

“4-5m quid I think we will maybe spend that on a striker” - Rangers already have a 20+ goal a season striker in Dessers with Danilo yet to come back. Danilo is a £6m Brazilian who won the title in Holland just before he signed for Rangers. These are two players that cost £10m and are more than good enough for the SPFL. I would be shocked if Rangers were to spend big on a third striker this summer. In fact, I’d hope we kept hold of Lovelace and actually gave him a chance as third choice striker.
Goldson has dropped off and a new CB is certainly needed. Jack and Lundstrum have just left and so at least one new CM is needed. Sima and Silva have left so I would suspect at least one more wide player that can score goals will be targeted.
As much as Rangers fans go on about buying a striker I actually don’t think it’s a priority position this summer. The wide players, and their lack of output, is of much greater concern. If Rangers had better wide players that were contributing goals they would have won the title at a canter. That big hole in midfield is of greater concern.
Rangers need to bring in 3-4 players this summer that are good enough to walk in to any team in this country including Celtic. That would be a CB, CM, and two goal scoring wide players for me. If you spend £4m on a striker then you simply end up with a situation whereby Dessers and Danilo are on the bench (£10m of player assets), while Scott Wright and McAusland are still plying regularly.

Generic, noone knows how Danilo will be this season after being out so long and whilst Dessers has a 20+ goal season in him he can be hit and miss as seen elsewhere. No matter how much they cost we need a prolific striker as well as the rest in my opinion.

Generic- Another TRUE clinical striker IS required - Dessers and co were given unlimited chances this year and many chances went a begging so to progress we need someone who can score the easy chances as well as the difficult - therefore 3 good strikers need for rotation IMO- They had Oh, Kyogo and Idah all who knew where the net was.

I get the view we need a goalscorer. The little we seen of Danilo he seemed good but also looks like hell miss a fair few. I do agree though, the pot ain’t bottomless and I’d say Sima is the priority signing for that other wide man. Then the cm we’ll need to fill. Reality is that we have 3 strikers on the books - Dessers, Danilo and Lammers.
So doubt we'll spend anything on a striker unless / until we sell one, two or three of the current forwards.

I’m not dessers biggest fan but if we sell him right now we are making same mistakes as last season unless it’s a decent fee
You don’t know if danillo will recover or recapture form
You don’t know if new player coming in will be better than dessers
My point being you don’t get rid of first team starters before new players have proved their worth unless it’s a very good offer money back or above I’d say a player like dessers or some else stats would look a lot better too if taking pens which could happen. If tav goes.

Dead certainty to get injured again next season. I want these players gone. I like Jack but we know he’ll break down. I hope this window goes well because I’m not too keen on any of the players we’re linked with. Except from maybe Troare and Rrhamani and possibly Galdames. I wasn’t bothered when Cordoba didn’t want to come. I thought he looked like a scare, although the Bulgarians will disagree.
I wonder how much is really available for players. I don’t think it will be anywhere near what people hope. That’s just a feeling tho and hope I’m wrong. I hope PC gets actually enough to at least make it his team. They did back Beale, but when big Phil said he had to use some of the summer budget to bring in Dio, it made me wonder how much they really have. I hope I’m just being paranoid tbh.

Just seen from Scotland's Coefficient on X that if we were to progress to the CL group stage through the qualifiers we actually get more prize money compared to Celtic, due to the prize money from the playoff rounds. All agreed on that. What the game proved to me is that Clement is still in charge. After surgery in the summer, we will be a new team. Confidence and self-belief is what we lack more than anything. As Postecoglu is showing at Spurs, there are disappointments along the way but we have a promising manager. Give him time.

We can't afford to play a midfield 2 next week. We need to overload that midfield and control the tempo of the game. I would prefer to see a flat 3 with diomande, Raskin and sterling in the middle. Energy, quality and can play direct. But we all know it will be Lundstram and Diomande with Cantwell as a 10. It's tough times.

Although his performances are generally good ( i thought he was motm today) Lundstrum generally abandons the midfield and for large chunks of the game plays like a CB. He’s done that with Gio, MB and now PC. If they can’t change the way he plays then maybe we have to change the system to suit, and maybe play him as a sweeper and get another midfielder into the team.
We should be dominating the midfield in n most games but we rarely do and I think that’s mostly down to only having 1 man in there bs the opposition 3.

I'm just curious, why is Raskin not getting a game. Lundstram is not the type of player you want being your deep lying playmaker, at least with Raskin he turns and wants to play forward and quickly and always struck up a good partnership with Cantwell. I know people want big changes for the rest of the games but I doubt it's going to happen. Personally, I would want to see Sterling go at RB and if Tav has to play I would push him further forward in a winger position. At least that way we have someone who would hog the touchline and spread the pitch instead of staying narrow.

Gers78, I get your concern but if we want to be aggressive in our style of play you need CB's who can play and are mobile, there are not many tall cb's who are mobile and can play who are in our price budget. We also have a keeper who is good and claiming crosses so it does in a way address that.

Walter, out of the 3 I would go for Knutsen. I think potter is a good coach but I don't think his style suits our league, might do well in Europe, but I remember watching brighton when he was manager and he likes the 3 at the back but always played in a low block and his way of attacking was a direct ball to his forward.

Fair point John and Mark I just think it would make sense to get a DOF in first so that whatever manager takes over from Beale, they are both on the same wavelength in regards to how the team plays and the profile of players we need, rather than just hiring someone with no clear direction of where we want to go.
