Does Koppens promotion pretty much end any talk of PC leaving? Reading other former players speak about his inability to change tactics in games or during a season is not encouraging. For a manager to say he won't change anything because it's too confusing to players is just bizarre, surely that's his job, especially when he is shoehorning players into positions and roles they aren't used to or comfortable playing.

Read the statement, it says that Koppen and Clement will report directly to the new CEO so Koppen is not Clements boss and not responsible for hiring or firing him. The main question is who decides on the players we are signing . If its Koppen then he should be fired if Clement is, for some of the duff signings in the last year.

BlueFloyd3, if you read my post it says some of the duff signings, Barron and Jefte are the only two I would say have been a success and it didn`t take much of a scout to spot Barron who was right under our noses. Kasanwirjo and Cerny have looked decent too, though it took a while with Cerny, and Bajrami may turn out to be good . We have wasted good money on Propper who is awful and completely unsuited to Scottish football, Diomanade who is a headless chicken in midfield and Igamane who wouldn`t get a game for the B team at the moment, that is nearly £8million that should have been invested properly . He also signed Nsiala who by all accounts is struggling in the B team, so, as I say, SOME of his signings have been duff and no help to Clements rebuild so why should only Clemant carry the can for the teams failure.

This Aris is a club i'd not heard much if. And I couldn't help wondering what risk there was they couldn't afford an obligation in due course. they seem to be a top 6 club over in Greece, but don't seem to spend a lot. There have been signings of c £3m (circa one person season) in recent seasons though, so this looks like it could be Thier record signing if the obligation is true (I'm still thinking I might be a translation issue and it's an option rather than an obligation) .

Has anyone heard any rumours regarding CBs. Almost all are about forwards or wingers but with Goldson finally looking like out the door and he was best of bad bunch this is serious area needing sorted as much as attack but not heard anything.

I can't believe we are half way through January going into our 5th game of the month still without signing a new CB despite out injury crisis. We have known since the summer we need another with only 3 senior CBs. ( 2 of which are regularly crocked) We've known for months our utility backup Kasa won't be back. We've had plenty of time to identify and secure a target in advance of the window.

The league was not over when Kasa got injured for example and was only in last few weeks of Dec we really collapsed to write off season. Targets could and should have been identified and secured well in advance of the window and to be ready for next couple of euro games.

The level of understanding being shown on this post is really poor. For a start, any player signed can not play in the Man U game. Euro squad can't be changed until after the league phase is finished. And as has been pointed out by others, this ain't Champ Manager here, you don't just select a player and click 'sign'. The January window is also terrible for trying to get in quality players. We will of course have a number of players already identified and spoken to. But as has been pointed out, we are trying to build for the long term. No point in just bringing in anyone for the sake of it, or for the short term. The league is gone and as mentioned, we can't add to the Euro squad till after January. So if we have a number 1 target that is still 'live' then best to wait and try and make sure we get them, even if it's the last day of the window, rather than move on down the list just to rush someone in. There could be lots of reasons a deal hasn't been finalised. Selling club may not want to let the player go until they have brought in a replacement? Selling club may still be asking too much and we are hoping the price drops as the window comes to a close (which often happens) Player them self may still be 'making there mind up' as to what move to make. As others have said, zero point in rushing in the wrong player, Balogun, Tav and Butland all back in training and will improve the defence in meantime and there really aren't any games between now and end of January that a new signing could play in that really matter that much ?.

Not at all John, just trying to better understand fellow fans points of view. So far only quarter of those 40% who back him are actually happy with him. The vast majority just don't want to keep sacking managers. That tells a very different narrative. If it wasn't for previous rinse and repeat sackings it suggests they wouldn't be backing him at all.
It doesn't change anything and he's here for a while regardless but helps to see others feelings. And unfortunately I can't get to many games but I certainly wouldn't be walking out. I'd love to be there. One of my only games was under Beales debacle but I still loved it and would never leave.

Sorry lost thread. Just wanted apologise to Angus. I never meant to insult or offend. When I said PC performance wasn't good enough despite finances u were the one who brought up being comfortably 2nd even though others agreed it's not good enough. No one had even mentioned position. This along with u having been a big defender of PC perhaps led me to misinterpret your explanation. So I'm sorry. Also to those who criticise us and say it's wrong to expect us to challange just now what should we expect then? is that not by very definition saying best we should expect or be happy with is an unchallenging / distant 2nd? Perhaps not the decision re PC I'd hoped for but it is was it is for now and will continue to get behind the team and hope for the best. A distant 2nd is obviously good enough for some. We are certainly taking the pain but it doesn’t mean that there will definitely be a gain, I like many others just believe that Clement if a poor manager who cannot get our team to win away from home domestically and for that reason he should be shown the door. What level of footballer do we need to win in Paisley or Dundee, our current squad is good enough to beat every team in the league so why can’t we, ask the manager.

Given the numbers today saying we can't be expected to compete, PCs doing a good job with his hand behind his back, we're 2nd highest budget so were where we should be, Mystar especially you've been arguing we shouldn't be expecting better given the rebuild, Angus, alloa and others have all said shouldn't change because we're comfortably 2nd. I've specifically asked if they thought PC was doing a good job just being 2nd and they basically said yes. But we are where we are and nothing going to change at the moment so for now I'll shut up and just hope for better.

others on here say we have the 2nd highest budget so should be able to beat teams with lower budget. by that logic then the team with the highest budget Celtic will always beat those with lower budgets and that means us. therefore following that logic then every team would finish at the level for their budget therefore we would finish 2nd every season. so it is your peers who say they are happy with 2nd using that logic; just too stupid to realise they do say that.
I have been saying that getting rid of PC doesn't change the process and the next manager will not have any more budget in fact less due to the pay off. we have a better home record than last season PPG and the same in Europe PPG but against higher level opponents. I can see that short term pain is needed to get to a better place hopefully very soon but at no time have I said I am happy to accept 2nd. .

It's hard but think people need to try and separate the business side from the football side of things. (And I'm not saying this in comparison with Celtic who are far richer so clearly have advantages) . OK 16 players left but how many do we miss or viewed as irreplaceable. You could maybe argue for one or two. What we did was remove a large group of vastly overpaid players who weren't good enough or were always injured last year. If we can remove Matondo and Dowells etc wages too would that make us worse? So on the business and recruitment side there is a lot to praise and be positive about moving forward. On the football side, while maybe wages may be inferior is PC having to try and work with an inferior group of players? Is this squad that much worse than before to end up with one of the worst away records in our history?

I've never said we should be beating Celtic. Sadly I totally agree we've been a mess and we're potentially years behind financially and obviously this matters. What I argue is that still we should be doing far better than what we are. Can't just put our hands up and say Celtic are miles richer so as long as we're just above the rest everything is fine. After over a year performance and results particularly away from home are an embarrassment.
