This Aris is a club i'd not heard much if. And I couldn't help wondering what risk there was they couldn't afford an obligation in due course. they seem to be a top 6 club over in Greece, but don't seem to spend a lot. There have been signings of c £3m (circa one person season) in recent seasons though, so this looks like it could be Thier record signing if the obligation is true (I'm still thinking I might be a translation issue and it's an option rather than an obligation) .

I think that was more when he was a young teen these clubs were interested in him, although I don’t think they properly perused that interest it was more watching him.
He seems to have stagnated a bit from his early potential. Remember defenders sometimes come into their prime slightly later than mf’s n strikers.
John would be a good person to comment on Leon king as I believe he watches a lot of youth football and his opinion can have more substance than mine, anyway.
Also John, if u read this, or anyone else of course, what was the interest in king and how strong was it from other clubs?
I feel if the clubs of Man Utd and so on came in, he would have been off.

It's hard not to be concerned now. 17th May "it's the end of a cycle", and a big emphasis on importance of preseason to change our injury record and gel new players. 1 week till we name euro squad and only replaced Lundstram with Barton as starter so far. Hope for a good performance tonight to lift the mood.

Kaiser, it all comes down to funds. Our central defence even if we move Goldson on, is very weak. We have to rely on Wright and Matondo as wingers and no one rates our strikers. We are where we are, and sad to say it will be down to PC to get this bunch to play beyond their capabilities to see us through to a Champions League place, and at the same time we need to hope that at least two or three from six go and in the process reduce the wage bill since personally I don't expect to see big fees for Tav, Goldson or Wright and we might struggle to shift Cantwell and Hagi for the fees we are looking for.

Sorry but I just can't get the Goldson love in. Yes OK he stayed fit and was decent at 1st but he was handsomely rewarded for it. That he's been the best of a bad lot just shows how poor the rest have been. Has regularly cost us in big games. I'll never understand giving a new contract to a guy who openly admitted giving up in games a new contract after refusing one let alone making him vice captain. No wonder we've been serial losers.

Has he consistently made big mistakes in big games? Is he on a huge wage for us? Did he admit giving up in games? (see hibs interview for one example) Is he supposed to be one of our leaders? Did he refuse to sign a new contract until it expired when no one else came in? Sure most of us would hold out for the best deal for us but just don't describe it as loyalty. Agreed blue. It is impossible to give your best when your boss doesn't rate you. Hopefully in private there is more encouragement given. This is only mimicing fan opinions of our squad. Hence, we can't sell at a decent price. Clearly, there is no money to properly strengthen. We have seen that our buys from established leagues at 3 to 6 million are usually average at best. The wages we offer aren't huge but clearly enough to stop players moving on. We lost 6 players out of contract but with only Lundstrom and Barasic being regulars. We have brought in Jefte and Barron to replace them. Early signs for these two are positive despite Jefte's performance yesterday. We can't keep spending on mediocre players just because that is where our budget is. The truth is that Dessers is worth 6m, Lammers is worth 3m. but that is the quality you get for that money if you spend it in established leagues. We really need to coach our own better. They only need to be a little bit better than the rest of the league and have the enthusiasm and desire to win. This squad IS good enough. We can't command the class of players we had in days gone by. Wanting better players and getting better players are different things. Let's support who we have, encourage them to perform and if they are not doing it, promote from within. Euro 24 was littered with players under 21. Surely we have guys good enough and hungry enough to compete against Ross County and St Johnstone. This isn't blind optimism and hope. But we need a strategy that is realistic and progressive.

Unfortunately I think we're going to have to drop our valuation of some players just to get them out. In fact to be honest I'd rather give Goldson away and replace with a bosman or loan so as not making a loss than have another season with him or others like him. What's the difference between free for a free and hoping for 2-3m and spending the same on replacement. Some of these players have got to go and if it's loans or bosmans then there's good ones out there. We need a reset because of the mess left.

Kaiser, the problem has never been what we are asking for them in terms of transfer fees, it’s always been that the wages they are on with us are far higher than they will receive from any club that ‘may’ in fact be interested in them. So therefore the players don’t want to leave. Baldy that's 100% nonsense. Is it our fans fault he was exactly the same before and has said he will never change for anyone. Unfortunately there's loads of players like him that love the attention but don't fulfil their potential because of their attitude. Likes of ravel morrison, alli, lindgard etc. But then again maybe rangers fans are to blame for them too. Seriously, how many times did PC take him off early because his attitude was wrong on the pitch even though fans adored him to begin with.

Hope this is just made up rumour based on team tonight. A few big omissions. Butland, Souttar, Davies, Cantwell, Lawrence, Dowell, all not involved as well as Goldson confirmed in talks. Make of that what u will. Hopefully start to see some movement but just not Butland.
