Reports going round Hagi going to Roma in January. Really hope it's not true as one of only ones that see sees that final pass and makes big difference as seen this week. Seriously underrated by many. Though fee being reported is around £17m which would be massive for us.

1.) 24 Sep 2021 11:46:18
Great deal for both parties. One player we definitely have to start scouting a replacement for right enough as he's our only player with that little something different.

2.) 24 Sep 2021 12:18:50
I used to think towards the end of last season Haggis, was one we could cash in on.

I honestly think we would struggle now. he's grown as a player physically mentally. It staggers me how many of our players don't move enough this season, his sense of positional football is excellent.

if John25 is right and a few others are set for a clear out, Goldson in Jan also then we will be disrupted.

17m is good but it better have at least 15% sell on added because he's got huge potential in the European market.

3.) 24 Sep 2021 12:30:35
Usual rubbish from Daily Rag. but if true no way will we turn down bid. give half to SG use rest to balance books.

4.) 24 Sep 2021 12:31:27
Think part of his trouble is he's never a traditional right winger, more a no10 and we never play that way so he's had to change. Think he'll be a real star in the future. Will be a bid miss if he goes.

5.) 24 Sep 2021 12:31:38
£17m take it and run all the best Hagi and thanks.

6.) 24 Sep 2021 12:43:20
I seem to recall saying we would get 15-20m for Hagi and some posters said I must have rocks in my head to think that.

7.) 24 Sep 2021 13:04:44
I’d be more inclined to sell the older players look at our midfield Kamara, Aribo, Hagi all young guys we should be looking at getting the best out of these guys and building the team around them.

8.) 24 Sep 2021 13:10:29
The boy is only 22 and has improved since joining Rangers has loads of potential but £17m is too good an offer to refuse if true ( probably not true) . Anyway if we win the league and get the £30m we don't need to sell.

9.) 24 Sep 2021 13:30:33
Hagi has physically improved but his general play as been sensational from the moment he walked in the door. He would be a huge loss but Veerman is a good replacement who sees that final pass as well. 17m for Hagi and 5-7m for Veerman is good business although I'd be gutted to see Hagi go.

10.) 24 Sep 2021 13:48:26
It was also rumoured that Barasic was going to Roma.

11.) 24 Sep 2021 14:49:53
Said long time ago hagi will move around Europe regularly, he’s that type of player, he will earn a good living without ever stay Long anywhere, you may remember John, I think you might have agreed,
Not that I’m saying it’s true mind, but one thing, I would have thought people would have learned about putting massive valuations and sell on clauses to our players, some are ridiculous.

12.) 24 Sep 2021 15:07:28
I'm sure that bacona was bought to compete with hagi hopefully he can post the same returns re goals n assits.

13.) 24 Sep 2021 15:41:48
Yeah you could be right stewarty, I’m surprised someone said hagi has been sensational since he walked in the door, he certainly Wasn’t , but he does have talent.

14.) 24 Sep 2021 15:55:37
What if he gets injured?

15.) 24 Sep 2021 16:02:28
Players will always move on. It is very rare for Players to stay with the same Club for 10/ 12 years nowadays. As long as the money is right for Rangers. A lot of Players come to Rangers to put themselves in the Shop Window. I would be really worried if no one was interested in any of our Players.

16.) 24 Sep 2021 16:11:45
That will be one of the reasons rangers will bite the hand off any offer of that magnitude for any player at ibrox, books must be balanced.

17.) 24 Sep 2021 17:41:27
We don’t play with no10s we don’t play with wingers as it’s left to the right back and left back to get to the bye line or cross early I honestly believe hagi would be better in midfield where aribo plays.

18.) 24 Sep 2021 17:42:41
Hagi is a great player and gets good assist also don’t understand anyone that doesn’t think he is a quality player.

19.) 24 Sep 2021 18:36:31
love hagi but rather club has 20euro in account.

20.) 24 Sep 2021 18:55:00
Would take the 17 million would like to keep him till end of season tho if possible we 6 month loan back 😂.

21.) 24 Sep 2021 19:34:40
Know I'm in the minority but I just see what others see in hagi, for me he's just average.

22.) 24 Sep 2021 19:48:11
Me2, he’s better than that, he has quality, he’s just not what some people think he is imo,
But he’s certainly better than average on his game, problem is people forget his best performances have been against the likes of Livingston when Rangers has 80% of the games, I just don’t see how he’s worth 17million quid,

23.) 24 Sep 2021 20:43:58
Will be prob be 12 million with 5 million in possible add ons he’s easy worth 10-12 million.

24.) 24 Sep 2021 20:52:20
TT his best performance was against braga.

25.) 25 Sep 2021 08:31:14
That was his only great performance for months players need to settle obviously, but he certainly wasn’t sensational,
Of course he’s had a few decent games now and we’re talking massive valuations, just like a few months ago when some players valuations went up by 5m every time they had a decent game against Hamilton

Decent on his game, not consistent, not quick, and not worth 20 million quid, but that’s just my opinion.

26.) 25 Sep 2021 10:59:11
I don’t for one min believe that is what we will get for him once sold the figure banded about is from newspapers that fans only believe what the Reed in them when it’s something positive about our club if it was negative they would be saying BS.

27.) 25 Sep 2021 10:59:36
Ps not every player needs to be quick.

28.) 25 Sep 2021 16:55:05
Gel be worth even more now.

29.) 25 Sep 2021 16:56:10
Sorry he’ll be worth even more, see what I mean about no pace and zero consistency.

30.) 25 Sep 2021 17:16:46
Agree Tom re hagi, a butterfly.

31.) 25 Sep 2021 17:56:56
TT os that you happy you are correct because hagi didn’t have a good game 😬 showing yer true colours again new it wouldn’t be long.

32.) 25 Sep 2021 23:26:29
Honestly lads, worth closer to 7 than 17, take the tinted specs aff.

33.) 28 Sep 2021 08:36:57
I really don't understand fans who talk down the value of our players. Not that it matters but I find it strange. Hagi is one of the best players in Scotland. I’m a better league with space he would be worth 20m. Do for me he’s worth 17m and more.

34.) 28 Sep 2021 14:35:14
Grog, I respect your posts, but, seriously, a guy who occasionally plays well, against Livingston at ibrox, but not against Dundee at dens the days later, is actually worth upwards of 20 million pounds, really mate, your right, it doesn’t matter what is said on here, but some take it very personal, there’s not a chance in hell georghe is worth anything like that fee, it’s ludicrous mate.

29 Aug 2021 20:44:04
If Barasic goes how about Doig £2-3m with Kelly or Katic going on loan as part of deal?

1.) 29 Aug 2021 21:18:29
No bassey is better than him and young Maxwell not far behind.

2.) 29 Aug 2021 22:48:29
Never mind of BB goes of rumors of Leeds bidding for Kent and kamara and we lose all 3 well need a miracle. Surely we won't sell 3 of our best players even if it'll bring in 40/ 42m.

3.) 29 Aug 2021 23:06:14
Hibs want 4 million + for him he ain’t worth that.

4.) 30 Aug 2021 07:28:06
Depends how much we get for BB. Reckon could cut a deal for Doig Or are we better getting a quality loan in for this season and plan for maxwell for future? Is he not out on loan already.

5.) 30 Aug 2021 07:43:16
Hibs previously indicated Arfield permanently and Kelly on season loan as part exchange for Doig.

6.) 30 Aug 2021 08:40:23
Bankie that also needs arfield to want to
Go to them.

7.) 30 Aug 2021 09:49:13
I don't believe that Bassey comes even close to a fully fit Barasic and Doig isn't an adequate replacement. I can only hope that Wilson has identified a top quality left back from Europe that can come in and be a first team starter. As for Leeds bidding for Kent and Kamara, they will need to offer silly money to get them and we need to ensure that in the event that either of them are sold that we can very quickly move for Veerman and others that are of a similar quality.
My biggest concern is that we will lose Paterson since I believe that Everton will come back in with a £10m offer and I don't see paterson wanting to sit on the bench at Ibrox if the plan at Everton is for him to take over next season from Coleman.

20 Jul 2021 16:00:32
Katic linked with loan move to Spezia in Italy. Probably a good idea to get him back playing again. don't need 6 CBs.

1.) 20 Jul 2021 17:36:31
I agree a loan but was hoping for a spl team so gers can keep an eye.

2.) 20 Jul 2021 17:39:26
I agree Davie. Croatia news outlet saying loan to buy if he proves fitness.

3.) 20 Jul 2021 18:01:16
Spezia couldn't afford to buy him as it stands Rangers will want at least 5m for him

When he starts playing and getting to where he was previously he'll be three times that.

4.) 20 Jul 2021 18:19:00
All blues just choked on my coffeee, 15 million.

5.) 20 Jul 2021 19:08:54
He’s worth £2m IMO after that injury. If he can fully recover and continue to improve the he could be worth £4m but never £15m in the short term anyway.

6.) 20 Jul 2021 19:43:07
All blues calm down mate.

DD do you think rangers don’t keep an eye on players that go on loan to other countries? Doesn’t matter where he goes rangers will keep a close eye on him.

7.) 20 Jul 2021 19:50:50
kJ I’m with DD on this original chat was Motherwell, easier to bring him in to see doctor, physio etc.

8.) 20 Jul 2021 21:07:52
Katic 15 million wow just wow.

9.) 20 Jul 2021 21:46:47
John I would rather they go abroad to a better league to be honest and we as a club will still keep and eye on him no matter where he is.

10.) 20 Jul 2021 21:54:55
I'm calm Give him a year and he does where he left off ie scoring against Celtic and all that he can easily reach 15m definitely 10m for sure don't be undervaluing our players

Oh and Johnny hope u our coffee is ok lol.

11.) 20 Jul 2021 22:04:27
To be honest I'd much rather he went on loan to Spezia than Motherwell. He'd play against much better players than he would in the SPL. Daviedouglas, we could keep just as close an eye on him in Italy as we could if he went to an SPL team. I don't want to loan him at all though. I think Katic is much better than Balogun and is also our sellable asset. Balogun because of age and length of contract is worth zero. If big Katic can get his injury cleared up and play the games that Balogun would then I think he would prove his worth. I see no benefit in keeping Balogun with Edmondson, Katic and Mayo available. Just my opinion. I know a lot of people like Balogun. that's fair enough. Just not for me guys.

12.) 20 Jul 2021 22:50:11
Kj a9 first if its spl then rmtheres a bigger review of his performances against teams we play so we can have an honest opinion how he will fair for rangers. Agreed any team he goes to I presume gers will look at but for utmost obvois reasons any player that's on loan with the country of origin there playing for is so much easier.

I want to see katic at a Motherwell for instance and absoloutly boss there defence or go to Italy where footballs completely diffrent style and he's got plenty time on the ball etc etc and looks good then comes back to Scotland and struggles with the intensity of our game.

13.) 20 Jul 2021 23:52:07
I think the Italian league would be perfect for him to enhance his game. I personally wouldn't put an option to buy in the deal. Think he was very inconsistent when playing but still a young CB that will get better with experience. I think should the loan go to plan he will return as our starting CB next season with Bologun and Goldson contracts expiring at the end of the season.

14.) 21 Jul 2021 08:04:01
Katic has never looked like a £15m player, and I don't think he ever will. That's only my opinion on the boy and I would love to be proved wrong. Whatever he does, good luck to him!

15.) 21 Jul 2021 13:41:00
Spezia have a two-season transfer ban. Don't know if that includes loans though.

16.) 21 Jul 2021 15:18:47
Good info RFC.

17.) 21 Jul 2021 15:33:10
Soezia banned for four windows, starting 2022 in the January.
Will need todo all their business this summer.
Very rich club who were recently taken over by American linked to one off our directors.

18.) 21 Jul 2021 19:34:00
DD you want him to go to mwell do you can see how he goes I want him to go to a better league so he can improve and IMO she would improve more in a better league than he would here with Mwell.

19.) 22 Jul 2021 01:00:39
Kj a9 if he's in the spl we can tell exactly how he's gona play within the spl so we know he can handle it again. he goes to somewhere like Italy or Spain the games not so fast and furious and you have a lot more time on the ball etc. big season for katic to prove his worth. I think an spl team is the only place for him if he does go on loan. once again strengthening teams against others but weakening them against us.

20.) 22 Jul 2021 05:14:23
Loan katic to the sheep bigger club than Motherwell also we can keep a really close eye on him plus the Italian league would give him far to much time on the ball unlike the SPL when he came back it would be like him starting all over again if he went to Italy.

21.) 22 Jul 2021 22:01:44
unbelievably negative comments in a week that Ajer has went for £13M. If Katic can learn to be a bit more patient in his defending and not lunge in as often then he has all the attributes to be a great defender.

19 Jul 2021 17:38:33
Rangers have apparently rejected a 600K bid from West Ham for Kai Kennedy.

1.) 19 Jul 2021 18:00:35
Kaiser I’d take that with addons and sell on clause.

2.) 19 Jul 2021 18:34:26
The same kia Kennedy that made Europe's youth team of the year. really what do you have to do at gers to make the grade. another year out on loan then get him in the first team sqaud.

3.) 19 Jul 2021 18:54:50
dd, what you have to do is to be good enough to make it, like Patterson, possibly Kelly and King, and all the others of the past who did make the breakthrough. I'd let him go for that money plus add-ons.

4.) 19 Jul 2021 19:03:15
Davie need to show the right attitude.

5.) 19 Jul 2021 20:14:43
From what I was hearing today him and his agent are on a sticky wicket. Rangers not happy about a quote where he talks about working with Moyes a top coach. Lad is good player with big potential but thinks he should walk into our first team. Would get rid with deal similar in set up to Gilmour.

6.) 19 Jul 2021 20:40:22
He must be shown something guys if west ham are offering a hard 600k for his him that’s for sure

Premier league clubs not going to offer that if the boy is not doing or showing enough
We’re just not big on given young ones a chance as we were in a position to stop Celtic and we need champs league football
So coaching team not trusting to rely on young ones coming in to play big roles in these important big games?

But we should give them cup games I’d rather concentrate on league and European football and let the young lads have a right go at giving us a run in Scottish cups etc. ?

7.) 19 Jul 2021 21:01:58
It seems this lads agent does not appear to advise him very well.

8.) 19 Jul 2021 21:12:37
Norwich and an unnamed French team are after him also.

9.) 19 Jul 2021 21:13:58
Get him in the first team squad so he can sit on the beach all season. 🤦🏻‍♂️.

10.) 19 Jul 2021 21:46:23
Stig this boy has not kicked a ball for anyone since April.
Allegedly said he would not go on loan to thistle as he is too good.
Remember gerrard called him and agent out last year re ego.
I read the comment re moyes, thought it a bit strange.
F has not got future with us squeeze more out of West Ham.

11.) 19 Jul 2021 22:03:41
To make the European youth team of the year. comon guys really. absoloutly bags of potential. Then he goes to west ham for 600k absoloutly smashes it like a certain some1 at Chelsea then I'm sure same people disagreeing with my view will say it's another youngster we missed out on. seriously. fifas youth team of the year yet sell him for 600k. I just don't know anymore with some of you lot.

12.) 19 Jul 2021 22:17:54
Agree John, read the article earlier and his agent seems to be doing the talking.

13.) 20 Jul 2021 00:01:28
Can't blame agent or players wanting to move on especially to Premier league. We have such a poor track record of playing youth that it's not like they believe they will be given a chance. I'd much rather have players like him on the bench than the likes of Barker Jones Hastie Stewart. Patterson Kelly etc might not play tons but look at the excitement they create with the fans.

14.) 20 Jul 2021 00:10:25
When we've signed between 10-15 players each year for the past decade do the youth really believe there is a pathway into the team. Sadly.

15.) 20 Jul 2021 08:13:38
Kaiser last ten years 7 off it our youth terrible. It did not start to change till gerrard came in.
Unfortunately Gilmour was not staying. He had agreed to go to Chelsea before he was old enough to play for us.

16.) 20 Jul 2021 09:36:36
If Kennedy good enough for 1st team squad get him in there. From what I’ve seen whilst promising not currently good enough. 6 month loan to Hearts best option IMO.

17.) 20 Jul 2021 10:12:20
Great point John. Ability will only get you so far, you need right attitude determination, commitment and to be humble on and off the park.
I know the boy personally and he blocked a lot of his friends he grew up with from social media, drives about in a new Merc and thinks he’s already made it.
If he can be as grounded as Patterson he has a good chance to break through as ability wise he’s very good.

02 Jun 2021 12:07:12
Lots of chat linking us with German u21 Salih Oczan. CM on a free from Coln. Apparently another holding mid. Beginning to think Kamara might be leaving because that's position we keep being linked with.

1.) 02 Jun 2021 12:18:01
Think the boys 23 lol.

2.) 02 Jun 2021 13:38:52
He is 23 but he’s still playing for Germany at the under 21 euro finals just now. It’s because any player who would of been eligible last year when the tournament was meant to be played has been allowed to play, even if now they are ‘over age’.

3.) 02 Jun 2021 14:49:55
Ahh ok ger, seems fair to be fair as they still get the chance to play in it then.

4.) 02 Jun 2021 15:07:40
Yes he's 23 sorry, I did mean playing for U21s. 👍.

5.) 02 Jun 2021 16:27:42
Ger78 made a good point tho bud so 3asy to see where it went wrong. I also read were intrested but will only make it concrete intrest if 1 odour midfielder leaves supposobly.

6.) 02 Jun 2021 23:27:08
Boy is a comfortable as sitting or more advanced. At 19 was rated as one of the top talents in Germany winning some award. We have been tracking this boy for over a year. We need an extra 1 or 2 in the midfield with that wee bit more quality. Think last few weeks of the season we were a bit short when arfield and Jack were injured and Davis can't go on forever. Can't expect him to be playing 50 games a season.

Re academy players possibly leaving or "doing a Gilmour" is it really any wonder, not only massive opportunity financially but we don't have a track record of using youth. Wasted years while coming back up divisions, and since Warburton and his boasts about youth development we've signed 94 players in 7 seasons and SG left us with the oldest squad in Scotland. Hopefully Gios experience and ex Ajax coach will make a difference.

1.) 08 Dec 2021 11:03:05
Doing a Gilmour got us Aribo and Kamara only difference is they done it to our clubs to join Rangers.

2.) 08 Dec 2021 11:20:24
We've never had a good track record for producing / giving youngsters a chance for years.
Since 1985 I believe only the following have broken through of any real quality to enhance the first team:-
Durrant, Derek Ferguson ( outstanding before falling out with Souness ) , Barry Ferguson, Moore, Hutton, McGregor and Patterson ( if he continues his progress ) being successful.
Plenty of others have crashed and burned.
7 players in 36 years!
John25 mentioned Andrew Dallas the other day. Scored for fun in the Rangers youth teams but is now in the English National League. With a goal scoring record of 20 in 96 games since he left Rangers.
Some people are just head and shoulders above their peers at an early age but don't develop any further.
In that respect we can't throw huge money at every young player who shows a glimmer of talent. A lot easier for the top sides in the EPL etc to do this as they have a lot more disposable income than us.

3.) 08 Dec 2021 11:22:21
Agree sweep it's the model we should have used far more. Not just ajax but look at success of even other giants like dortmund and bayern still signing and using youth. They go there because they believe they will get a chance not just for money.

4.) 08 Dec 2021 11:28:55
It's a short career so they have every right to look after themselves on the doing a Gilmour Chelsea have one of the best youth product systems in Europe I remember a interview which Gilmour did where he did a day in the life for Chelsea TV and some of the things he was doing you simply wouldn't get at us one example was he was studying and training with Cesc Fabregas.

5.) 08 Dec 2021 12:29:32
U r 100% on the button, MrPH. some on here wanted us to pay Rory Wilson 20 k a week to keep him, four times what we pay Paterson.

6.) 08 Dec 2021 13:24:07
MPH, Maurice Ross, Barry Nicholson, Greg Shields, Steven Hughes, Bob Malcolm, John Fleck, Robert Fleck, Scott Nisbet, Hugh Burns, Gary McSwegan, off the top of my head, all broke into our first team and some even went on to be international players. There are a lot more and while they might not have been superstars they certainly justify our youth system. Yes, there were poor years especially the McCoist era, but to suggest your seven are all there were is misleading at best, mate.

7.) 08 Dec 2021 13:29:09
Chris burke done ok and charlie adam went in to have a very good career.

8.) 08 Dec 2021 14:08:04
I take your point Tavsonloyal, but I'm talking about players who were good enough to break into the Rangers first team and hold their own.
None of the ones you mentioned played 100 games for Rangers.
And I bet a good few never even played 50 times for Rangers.
And not many were a huge success elsewhere.
Doing OK elsewhere isn't good enough for Rangers.
Would you honestly have any of the ones you mentioned over any of the players who kept them out the Rangers first team at that time?

9.) 08 Dec 2021 19:17:34
These were all straight off the top of my head, MPH, and others have also pointed to successful players like Burke, Adam, McCormack etc. Maurice Ross got 14 Scotland caps, for instance, Adam played for Liverpool and the players I mentioned did indeed break into our first team. All of which rather makes your assertion of 'seven in 36 years' look a bit weak.

07 Dec 2021 07:35:15
With game against lyon little more than a bounce game team what team would you like to see. Mcgregor Patterson Goldson Bassey Barasic Jack Lundstrum Bacuna Wright Kent Roofe.

1.) 07 Dec 2021 08:03:49

2.) 07 Dec 2021 08:48:14
Both good teams to be fair but I don't rate Lundstrum. I know it's early days but he doesn't suit our play. i'd like to see more youth with energy in the MF. Young Kelly for example.

3.) 07 Dec 2021 08:51:08
No chance go strong. We get more money if we get a result plus I want to see us win every game.

4.) 07 Dec 2021 09:17:47
A £500k bounce game.

5.) 07 Dec 2021 09:19:49
Our play is far to slow with Davis and Lundstram in the middle of the park.

6.) 07 Dec 2021 09:29:04

7.) 07 Dec 2021 10:04:47

8.) 07 Dec 2021 10:46:00
Depending on who's fit / available.
Time for the fringe players to get a run out.
Rest Aribo, Arfield, Kamara, Hagi for Hearts on Sunday.
Patterson Goldson Balogun Bassey
Jack Bacuna
Wright Kent Sakala

9.) 07 Dec 2021 12:57:55
Sakala and Morelos are one booking away from a suspension.

League games far more important than this one just now and ideal chance for fringe players to show they can play the new system. No point picking up silly bookings and suspensions for later round.

11.) 07 Dec 2021 17:26:19
Do bookings get wiped after group stages?

12.) 07 Dec 2021 19:26:01
MPH i would go with your team but bacuna where kent is as bacuna more of a number 10 than DM.

Just to stick up for some of the "doom merchants". This is exactly what we have all been crying out for. Desire hunger application work rate. Just a beginning but can't wait to see what Gio can do even with these players and who he brings in down the line. The future's bright.

Absolutely terrible defending. Said it before but shocking to put a coach in charge of semi who couldn't be bothered watching our last few games So he could be on sky. Gio said he wouldn't start out of respect. Well where was defoes. At least Gio will be under no illusion as to size of job defence needs.

1.) 21 Nov 2021 17:12:57
I know some were tipping him to be our next manager🤯.

2.) 21 Nov 2021 17:20:24
Tav and Goldson yet again.

3.) 21 Nov 2021 17:26:42
Thing is I understand goldson no other cb relly to replace but with Patterson there to take over from tav that’s what I don’t get.

4.) 21 Nov 2021 17:53:36
What is it with this Defence? Apart from Helander it is the same Defence as last Season. Shocking!

5.) 21 Nov 2021 17:55:11
Defoe in charge 🤦‍♂️ I know some are angry! But have a think before posting.

18 Nov 2021 17:51:52
Absolutely buzzing. The obsessed will be gutted. Expected us to be broken with SG leaving but we all on a massive high. Here We Gio.

1.) 18 Nov 2021 18:34:32
Welcome home Gio.

2.) 18 Nov 2021 20:35:59
Can't be upset with an upgrade. They lost popcorn teeth and got a Greek waiter on a one year contract and have already spent 20 million to try and be second. Hahahaha.

Don't expect players like him to stay for more than 2-3 yrs anymore. Its knowing when to cash in. Probably get biggest fee this window but best to keep till the summer. Been player of the season so far.

Would love this one to be true but can't see it coming off. Really highly rated kid and Barcelona said to want him back. We going to be linked with loads so just need to see who comes but makes the rumour page more interesting than just the fighting.

Was big mistake not selling some of these players. Too many like SG felt the job was done and clearly don't want to be here. Gerrard allowed a serious attitude of complacency to develop. Unfortunately value of most of the team has plummeted. Last season talk of £15-20m players. Can't see getting more than £5m for anyone.

Agree to a point that need to be good enough but signing over 10 players each season does exactly suggest those blocking their development were good enough either. Could have saved a fortune on certain transfers and wages using academy for squad players and who knows with proper attention some more possibly could have made it. It's well seen when players believe they have a chance they improve far better rather than just stagnating.

Agree sweep it's the model we should have used far more. Not just ajax but look at success of even other giants like dortmund and bayern still signing and using youth. They go there because they believe they will get a chance not just for money.

Thanks Ed and John. So he can register for any club as of next month just not sign pro contract in England till next year.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Ed don't know if there's different types of contact they can offer youth but obviously must be something at 16 because that's when gilmour signed. Perhaps you could clear this up.

{Ed001's Note - that was one of the reasons why young English lads went to Germany as they could sign at 16. Spain is 18, hence why Arsenal poached Fabregas. Legally Chelsea would have had to offer a youth deal at 16 with a guaranteed pro deal at 17. No doubt there were lots of 'gifts' going about though. Often the family are given a big house and 'jobs' that involve no work but a big salary. Even as long ago as Duncan Edwards it was going on and his ma got a brand new washing machine for his signature on a Man Utd contract. In those days no one had washing machines so it was a huge incentive. I have no idea why it is 17 though.}

Would agree want to see more youth given chance in some games especially if can get a couple in front but not sure can do that at CB. Hope he stays but need experience at the back and it's not somewhere u change midgame.
