It’s up to Conor Barron now, we have made him an offer which he is considering along with other offers from across Europe. As far as I am aware, the homegrown quota has been scrapped or is under review by uefa for next season so may be irrelevant.

Rangers and Celtic cannot sustain themselves based on TV, prize money, and gate receipts alone. They need regular European participation and to operate a player trading model.
Europe is always a massive priority for Rangers, and so it should be.

Whether you’re on a list or b list is irrelevant if trained at a Scottish club for 3 years or more between 15-21. Still make the squad. Signing a 20 year old foreigner instead means they don’t make the squad at all if not selected.

The comment on what a job Bisgrove done, not sure anyone can’t say with any great detail the great job he done or didn’t do. All we can judge him on is the decisions he made that we know he made.
Think PC is a great appointment and he played a massive part in that appointment. He also was a major part in the Oz mess, storm he totally missed the view of the fans and sold the brand for a few quid - surely you see that? He has brought many brand in but nothing new from what other clubs do, tbh hammered them down ours throats at time.
I’m not too concerned about the departure, I’m sure we can find a more than competent replacement.

Why are we hammering players for getting injured. It's frustrating yes, but we gave them a physical, surely we need to look at that department, and if it's not them, it's the training. Games are once or twice a week, most times things like hamstring injuries is a series of strains, it's actually very little that a tackle is the sole cause of an injury.

A wee peer into his past does reveal injuries have been his achillies heel John. Managed 40 games this season but typically a 25 game a season managed minutes player. On less than 6k per week at Graz . It would be a risky punt but a punt none the less. Prefer the look of Dani de Wit at Alkmaar he's had his issues too if we are talking freebies . poor guy even had Corona for 10 days 4 years ago. Neither have Roofenitis but come with risks .

We need 4 wingers never mind just sima and cortes, the options on the bench woukd still be wright, matondo and mcausland, all 3 not good enough, mcausland after a full 1st team pre season may improve but Matondo and Wright are not it. 2 players for each position, we currently have no wingers good enough. And on Sima he is injured far too often and has a poor injury record before playing for us.

Youth career primarily Hamilton under three years, signed for wolves. Loan Ross county, but that time counts as English academy as that’s his parent club.

Personally, i'd prefer getting in young scottish talent that know what it means to play for us and what's expected of you to suceed at Rangers.

Armstrong isn't even Scottish as John stated, he was born in England and was at Hamilton then onto Wolves, loaned back to Scottish clubs but even then he didn't complete the three years before 21 so doesn't count to any euro squad quotas.
Yes he has done well for Kilmarnock but he's 26 and would he really be able to cope with the pressure of playing for us especially when teams sit in against us. Where as with Killie he gets space etc.
Not against the signing but just as back up to replace the ever useless Wright.

However I’d still take him as a squad player without doubt. Knows the league and has performed fantasia last few years.
Really good player for this league and may well be even better than we expect.
Injuries and a lot more can affect our squad and he’s a good option to have if sima Cortez etc are out for any reason.

My concern is that we will yet again make the mistake of going for substandard players and have this forlorn hope that if we qualify for the Champions League that we bring in one or two of quality and we will be in the same boat this time next season and will potentially just add another manager to the Merrygoround.
We need to sign quality players and while I am hopeful that given the support by the board that our manager and his team will secure the quality needed I am less confidence that they will give him the level of support required until it is too late if at all.
The logical route in some respects is most likely to go for quality Bosmans on a higher wage since that is a revenue cost and not a capital cost, and to sign a couple of quality loan players, (although we wouldn't get them until their parent club has finalised their squad for 2024/ 25, which might be too late for Europe.
All of the above said, I believe that we need to sign Sima a Centre Back and a defensive Midfield player that will cost us significant money so question marks then arise unless we bring in some funds that are classed as turnover.
Other than selling our main assets, which for me we need to avoid, the only obvious route that I can see is selling the naming rights to Ibrox for an exceptional amount.

With the exception of the Advocaat era, which ultimately led to Rangers’ downward financial spiral, all of the most successful teams in Rangers’ history have been laced with a core of good Scottish talent. I sincerely hope we see a return to those days and that we start to cherry pick the best young Scottish talent and integrate them throughout our club, from 1st XI downwards. Perhaps we will then see some sustained domestic success and, with good coaching and tactics, continued success in Europe.

I’m no bothered if we get him or not! I think he’s a bit expensive for a player from Bulgaria tbh, it would be a decent signing but no the end of the world if he chooses a manager less club over ours. It would mean he’s going for probably bigger wages. But we could possibly be in the CL if we get our act together quickly this summer and don’t have the worst possible draw like we did 2 years running in PSV, although tbf our squad wasn’t even close to being good enough for the CL this season and we still got to the last round with Beale as manager and a really poor squad, so if we do get a lot better quality in as required then I’d be hopeful. Although a lot will have to go right for this to happen. Cordoba is just one piece in a massive a very complicated puzzle.

John do you know for a fact they turned us down, I got told and this is coming from mols, that bazoer wanted to move to rangers and Ross Wilson didn’t go for him. Also was told Gerrard had a deal in place for veerman and board pulled plug after losing to Malmo and if veerman was going to come why did we have someone there to sign if he couldn’t get him, after we were linked with him we just didn’t sign a cm. To me it sounds like someone at the club has told you they didn’t want to come to save face that we didn’t want to spend the money on them.
