For anyone who didn't watch the podcast OWS was talking about ill run through the main points to save you all time.

Keith Jackson and Scott McDermott both state that Gerrard's wife is reluctant to leave the middle east and would prefer Gerrard take up a position in Dubai. This is not the same as her staying in Liverpool whilst he worked in Glasgow.

Keith Jackson also stated that Gerrard has asked for a few extra days to discuss this with his wife which Rangers have agreed to reluctantly but they are pushing for an answer.

Scott McDermott stated that he has spoken to multiple people close to Gerrard and the belief is he will not take the job from those close to Gerrard.

He went on to say that the belief is it's not the right time for him to return to Ibrox.

He was not ruled out as next boss and not ruled out as preferred candidate.

Let's hope she stands her ground. Gerrard had his time and jumped ship.

2.) 21 May 2025 10:17:44
Honestly this has turned into a right circus. Were becoming a laughing stock the butt of jokes and its seriously pissing me off they've had 6 mths to try and get this mess tidied up a bit. Whoever it is i hope we know soon so we can roll up our sleeves and start the hard work needed to get us right back to the top where we belong and then we can dish out some karma of our own.

3.) 21 May 2025 10:24:08
Good info Ayrshire.

4.) 21 May 2025 10:46:51
How would journalists know the iner thinking off SG wife and family matters.

5.) 21 May 2025 11:23:09
The Club has not done anything wrong, they are issuing No statements, No Leaks, No Response to the Media frenzy, they are going about their business quietly and professionally, long may it continue this way.

6.) 21 May 2025 11:26:35
Mass - why has it turned into a circus and why are we a laughing stock?

The media has speculated blindly and excitable impatient fans are the only ones discussing it ad nauseum.

The club has gone about its business quietly, with no leaks. Professionally.

Show a bit of patience and faith in the club.

7.) 21 May 2025 11:27:47
Gerard I imagine wouldn't entertain an interview or as rumoured a second interview knowing his wife would reject it. If he wants it, he'll take it and work around and family problems as we all would.

8.) 21 May 2025 12:32:16
A lot of posts on here today saying it's embarrassing, it's his wife, it's a joke ect, I smell Tim's, down here in Liverpool the word is he was in no rush to get back in to management, he was enjoying being a husband and father and spending time in his home city, after hearing of the takeover plans and the scale of them, his mindset has changed, his wife won't stand in his way, he wouldn't have travelled to Glasgow if that was the case,

9.) 21 May 2025 13:18:44
I think people can dislike the Gerrard news without being "Tims". The news about his wife comes from the guy that broke the news about the takeover and the news about those close to Gerrard saying it's not the right time and don't expect it to be him is from another journo.

I for one don't have any inside knowledge of what's going on and take a lot of info from here, social media, fan media, MSM and other forums. But I am not keen on Gerrard returning but also will support him if it is him.

Some people are very passionate or opinionated and will use terms like it's a joke and that's fine. Doesn't make them a tim. Same as saying 1 in 9 is tim patter. It might be something they say but it is also factual. I don't agree that's a stick to beat him with but I will use his time at villa, ettifaq and his 1 in 3 in the last season as issues. As well as many wanted rid after we lost 1-0 to Hamilton.

On the plus side he did have us the fittest I've seen our team in recent years, he did show disdain for the other mob and he did win a league title. He did well in Europe other than the champs league qualifiers. He built a good foundation for us.

19 May 2025 19:20:44
I know most on here don't trust MSM and with good reason but.

Sky now reporting that the final shortlist is still to be completed and that interviews are still to take place.

I get the feeling with all the stories being reported across the globe that nobody has a clue what is actually going on and it's all guess work.

These forums seem the most likely to have credible info at this point.

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 19 May 2025 20:08:39
Daily mail are saying Gerrard's poised to be coming back.

2.) 19 May 2025 20:09:05
I'm still 100% confident that the deal is done.

I think the cancellation of the Australian friendly and the termination of BF and the team are pretty clear indicators.

3.) 19 May 2025 20:12:43
Think Sky have a good reputation to be fair, it's more the Scottish media that have a bad reputation from Rangers fans.

I used to call radio Scotland, radio Celtic because it was blatant, got better.

4.) 19 May 2025 20:55:41
EHL I obviously am nowhere near ITK but I read that the Australian friendly Vs Olympiacos was cancelled due to Rangers progression in the Europa League and potential for reaching the final prior to being eliminated by Athletic Bilbao. The BF thing just thought was respectfully saying thanks for his service basically.

All that being said I can understand your point though.

5.) 19 May 2025 22:20:08
Ayrshire the Sky report actually seems to quote Patrick Stewart saying just that. don't think it is finished yet and a decision still has to be made supposedly. given that the notion off red herrings has been discounted would the decision having been made not be a red herring if that was the case.

16 May 2025 13:52:59
Seeing reports AEK Athens are interested in Cyriel Dessers.

Also seen a reporter refute the Ancelotti news saying it's unclear if he will be there beyond June as Paul Clement is expected to take on the assistant manager role.

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 16 May 2025 15:31:07
I'd be asking €6m euros.

2.) 16 May 2025 15:55:09
Stevie, agree with addons and sell on.

3.) 16 May 2025 16:01:44
I agree if a fee like that comes in for Dessers we take it. Like him or not he scores goals. I know I've mentioned keeping him before. Was just saying so because of all the talk when pc was coach that we bring in young players to develop but we were after experienced players as well. But if a good fee comes in for Dessers or any senior player we should take it.

4.) 16 May 2025 16:11:46
Sell on? He's nearly 30.

5.) 16 May 2025 16:15:42
I'd be keeping dessers and getting shot of danilo.

6.) 16 May 2025 16:37:58
Shaker, goes somewhere Scorsese 30, sold next summer, u lose nothing adding in the clause.

7.) 16 May 2025 16:42:02
Id keep the big fella as number 3 striker he scores which is his job regardless of how many he misses we need to remember we are going to get a mols or a negri these days we need to accept scores when we can find them.

8.) 16 May 2025 17:04:58
Muscati. We don't pay our number three striker 28k a week.

9.) 16 May 2025 17:19:22
I would keep him until we get a replacement striker who proves he is able to score 50 goals in 2 seasons. we need an experienced striker to play alongside the raw talent we seem to be linked with.

10.) 16 May 2025 17:51:36
Need to sell simply because of his contract length, age and wage, have we learnt nothing, if a decent offer comes in, we need to accept. We must start to trade players properly if this club is to evolve.

11.) 16 May 2025 18:06:58
Correct John 3rd striker needs to be a project.

12.) 16 May 2025 18:08:46
The question about Dessers is he worth more to us on the park? 28 goals is a good return. Can we replace that? ?.

13.) 16 May 2025 18:27:51
I'd be selling Danilo before Dessers to be honest.

14.) 16 May 2025 19:16:32
I rate danilo big time but his injuries have been unfortunate. I only go by the facts and that states Dessers has been a very good striker for us. Enjoyed the thread I can understand both sides of the opinion but we can't keep knocking back good fees for players.

15.) 16 May 2025 19:56:10
Partick you are right but there needs to be a decision with every player on whether the price paid allows for a successor to be bought who will provide similar figures and still make a profit. if not you are just selling for the sake of it. Use another example we sell Nico for £10M and it costs that to replace him. what is the benefit to the team. simple economics IMO.

16.) 16 May 2025 20:25:03
I will drive dessers to the airport myself.

17.) 16 May 2025 20:57:56
Danilo has shown absolutely nothing he will be a success neither has Cortes doesn't convince me
so wouldn't be worried if we sold either.
Dessers misses chances but scored 50 goals over
2 seasons you can't grumble at those Stats the argument is not a lot of them are in games that meant anything but he gives his all for the Team.
Personally I'd sell now when stock is higher and look to replace with Shankland on a third of his wages.

18.) 17 May 2025 00:47:22
Get yourself on the plane too lithium.

19.) 18 May 2025 03:08:03
Now now I'm allowed an opinion. free speech n all that.

20.) 18 May 2025 09:02:15
I wasn't dessers biggest fan but
Hes certainly win me over with his goals and his attitude and fact he never gives up just keeps plodding away.

Gotta hand it to him don't think we've ever had a more stable character.

News on X breaking that Ancellotti is staying with Brazil until after 2026 world cup.

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 16 May 2025 09:52:21
Only thing with that is Brazil haven't qualified yet.

2.) 16 May 2025 10:06:15
Rangers have k own it's not him.

3.) 16 May 2025 10:10:33
Reports seem to be coming out of Brazil as well about ancellotti staying with his old man. It truly is a guessing game with who the manager is.

4.) 16 May 2025 10:18:47
Rose?.

5.) 16 May 2025 11:31:20
Billy davies.

6.) 16 May 2025 12:43:35
Am I the only one that thought the Ancellotti rumour was just thrown out there by the media as a complete guess, or were Rangers really interviewing him?

7.) 16 May 2025 13:49:05
It's highly unlikely that Brazil won't qualify. 6 from the 10 qualify with 7th going into a play off.

15 May 2025 22:51:41
Strasbourg (part of Chelsea's umbrella) and Marseille named as well as clubs in England interested in Hamza Igamane.

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 15 May 2025 23:24:44
Listen I wouldn't be totally against selling igamane. If was between the 3 of raskin dio and iga I'd sell dio. I'd be looking for over £10m for him possibly £15m.
Igamane I'd be asking £15m plus a sell on of 20%

Raskin £20m.

2.) 16 May 2025 00:18:41
Not a chance you're getting anywhere near those figures. £8-10 for any of those and we'd take it.

3.) 16 May 2025 05:53:20
I'll be honest, I'd sell all 3!
Healthy sell on clauses on the lot means not only would they fund this years rebuild but.

4.) 16 May 2025 05:53:47
But we'd make money in the future also, about time the club start making money off players.

5.) 16 May 2025 06:01:49
Let's hold onto them and build our team around them. Sell the duds and add the money from 49ers if any. That's our pot. We need more long-term strategic thinking.

6.) 16 May 2025 06:18:46
Glaudrup did you forgot to write we're and wrote you're. Get back to your own side.

7.) 16 May 2025 06:25:48
Not a chance your ?? these tims really are thicker than a warburtons green loaf.

8.) 16 May 2025 06:44:37
Igamane at the moment can barely get a starting slot at Rangers so any figires north 10 mill are pie in the sky.

9.) 16 May 2025 06:46:42
Marseille only ever come in for a rangera player to underbid i'd add 10% onto what we actually want if it was them.

New image uploaded to the
Rangers Player Sightings page entitled, El Pais, Spanish publication stating that Ancelotti will be offered the job. Goes on to specify his team and claim set piece coach, offensive coach and defensive coach will all be part of the set up

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 21 May 2025 15:24:34
The article headline does not say that Ayrshire?
It mentions how he is talking with three different countries.

2.) 21 May 2025 16:03:42
Hes hedging his bets and we are his third choice, kick him into touch now, we need somebody who wants to be Rangers manager and at the moment it only seems to be gerrard, who i don't want but obviously if appointed will support him - steven davis coach apparently.

3.) 21 May 2025 16:19:13
Rose ale he is using us as a bargaining chip.

4.) 21 May 2025 18:20:08
Rose vale yes the headline doesn't say that but the article itself does.

It states Rangers are at the most advanced stages with Ancelotti. Him wanting the job has also been confirmed by multiple sources both here and abroad. Guillem Balague the latest to say so.

The Italian club is Como in the event Fabregas left which he isn't. No named Spanish clubs. One la liga and one segunda. It says he doesn't want to go the the "best" club but the one which has the best project.

It states he wants to go to a club where he can build a reputation which the club is also rebuilding. It says he will bring the set piece coach from Real Madrid as his number 2 and he believes that there should be special-ists for each of offense, defence and set pieces.

I haven't myself read the article but multiple accounts on X and some very large ones all posting the contents of the article which I have detailed above.

5.) 21 May 2025 18:21:12
When I had posted the first time I read it was a poster on X saying he was to be offered it so I will retract that portion of the post.

1.) 20 May 2025 12:42:35
What's your thoughts now Ayrshire you still thinking Rose?
Or you thinking Gerrard is going to happen now.

2.) 20 May 2025 12:51:23
The plot thickens.

3.) 20 May 2025 12:53:00
That could be 1000's of things.

4.) 20 May 2025 13:34:06
I've never thought it would be Rose. Might be confusing me with Ayrshire Tattooist.

I would prefer Rose to Gerrard and I would prefer Ancellotti to Gerrard but I am starting to believe it will be Gerrard and I think Rose probably isn't even in consideration due to wages etc.

I see the pros and cons to Gerrard being appointed but for me I feel a perfect storm brewed that season we went unbeaten and won the league under him. I just think it was a lightening in a bottle moment and won't be recreated.

However this is all my thoughts on it not stupid enough to think I couldn't be wrong and if it is to be Gerrard I hope with every fibre of my being that I am wrong.

5.) 20 May 2025 13:40:53
He's way less risk to any other name!

It's a sensible appointment. Taking everything into consideration.

6.) 20 May 2025 13:46:19
Ayrshire sorry pal I have you mixed up

However thanks for reply and I suppose time will tell
If it's Gerrard I'm sure the support will unite and I hope if it is him he's successfull he's a likeable character big name in football and if he can deliver 56 I'll absolutely love him ??.

7.) 20 May 2025 14:09:15
Yeah the perfect storm was he had his players right up for it, no matter what Celtic were doing. It probably won't be recreated because how many times do teams win a league unbeaten. For all you that take the credit away from your own team and make out we only won because Celtic were off it have to beleive that Celtic would have went unbeaten, because we actually done that. How any Rangers fan could even attempt to take credit away from there own team in unbeaten season is beyond me, that isn't luck, it's a team absolutely on it. I get some don't like ir want Gerrard, but come on. If we scrapped it i would understand but we absolutely dominated the league.

8.) 20 May 2025 15:32:36
You forgot to add no fans in stadium either during that perfect storm.

9.) 20 May 2025 15:57:47
Don't get the fuss about Rose at all. Hasn't really done much with teams on a far bigger budget than us.

10.) 20 May 2025 16:07:40
BB4, I'm not taking away from that moment at all I'm saying it was a perfect storm in the sense we played well a lot of that season and picked up points when we didn't. Few late wins etc. We haven't done that in a long time and would be great to see.

It was a remarkable achievement that won't be repeated any time soon. However I still feel that season should have had the treble and we should have beaten 10 man Malmö. We then scraped past Alashkert and lost the first 2 games of the Europa league.

We dropped points to Dundee Utd away in a 1-0 defeat and drew with Motherwell, hearts and someone else. He did still beat Celtic 1-0 and we were top. We did also collapse after the winter break the previous two seasons and at times struggled with the low block. I also remember watching us absolutely rip apart Hamilton 8-0 at Ibrox and Motherwell away 6-1 with the sakala hat trick.

So I can see all the good and all of the bad. We definitely progressed under him. I just believe a new coach would be better than going back to something that (not saying 1 in 9) won one trophy. I don't want to go with the narrative of stopping the 10 because I want it to be about the trophies we won not the one we stopped them winning.

All in all. If it's him I'll support him even with my reservations and there would be nobody happier than myself if he proved me wrong (Dessers does this to me very often as I call him a donkey and then he scores 5 minutes later)

11.) 20 May 2025 17:50:30
Ayrshire wasn't aimed at you mate, just picked up on a couple of your points that's all. I'm not overly keen on him mate just does my nut in when people try to discredit what we done. Anyway Ayrshire if it is him like yourself I'll back him to the hilt mate, unlike a couple on here that have threw the dolly out the pram, declaring they won't even watch ?? which is just a blatant lie, as they will.

20 May 2025 09:53:12
Joshua Barrie saying on the live stream this morning that he still expects it to be a fresh appointment and that the club are still saying no decision has been made yet and the don't have a preferred target at this moment.

He also eluded to the fact that it still hasn't been brought down to a top 2 and said there are still many names on the list.

They did then cover themselves by saying Chris Jack is digging as we speak so who knows wtf is going on.

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 20 May 2025 10:15:22
Do you think Chris Jack will dig a hole big enough for himself ?.
Ayrshire I think this is the issue and no-one knows so they are guessing and printing whatever they want as the club neither confirms or denies this.

2.) 20 May 2025 10:27:13
Can't wait till this saga is finally done ? I'm like a fat kid waiting on his chocolate cake right now ??.

3.) 20 May 2025 10:47:30
They don't know basically.

20 May 2025 09:13:56

AyrshireMurphy

1.) 20 May 2025 09:29:21
Fingers crossed we see a few more of these over the coming days.

2.) 20 May 2025 09:38:40
Thank goodness.
Good servant but rarely fit or able to play a couple of games in a row.
No sentimentality in football - it gets you nowhere.

3.) 20 May 2025 09:43:08
Good luck to the big and loved having him at the club✌️???.

4.) 20 May 2025 09:59:48
Gutted for the big man but it was time for him to go, hope he is back at ibrox as a supporter soon.

5.) 20 May 2025 10:17:43
MPOH I am surprised at you. he has played around 30 games each of the last 3 seasons and as the back up CH those are good figures so let's say 1 in 2 games.
I Agee it is time to move him on and hopefully get a younger version of a very good defender but let's not rewrite the truth.

6.) 20 May 2025 10:20:04
A'good'seravant who gave his'all on the'pich . Thanks LB ??.

7.) 20 May 2025 12:01:40
2024/ 2025 Season:-
30 games
Lasted 90 minutes – 10 times.
Played less than 45 minutes – 11 times.
2023/ 2024 Season:-
19 games
Lasted 90 minutes – 13 times.
2022/ 2023 Season:-
16 games
Lasted 90 minutes – 13 times.
Played less than 45 minutes – 3 times.
He has played 65 games in 3 seasons. Nowhere near 90 games.
He was a good servant, Angus.
But as the above shows, it is time to say thanks and move on.

8.) 20 May 2025 09:27:54
Really? Surprised at that. Fair play to the big man. Fantastic servant thus and a very good player who would've played at a much higher level than he did if it wasn't for his injury problems.

9.) 20 May 2025 09:28:17
Fair enough. We can't be having players only available for 1 out of 3 matches a week.

10.) 20 May 2025 12:22:04
Angus, he has participated in 30 games this season totalling under 1800 minutes, that equates to 20 x 90 minutes, he has been like this for all off his career. Not good for a club that plays 60 games in a season

Unfortunately, the lad simply struggled to stay fit. We wish him well going forward.

12 May 2025 17:56:26
Don't want to discredit anyone but seems interesting that sky are now saying that the extensive list hasn't even been cut down to a shortlist yet but people seem to know it's Gerrard.

I have no itk status or itk the sources so won't discredit anyone or attack anyone for their input but do find it interesting that this is now being posted. Especially after the telegraph said similar and the Italian journo saying Ancelotti was being sounded out as an option.

AyrshireMurphy

It's quite funny imo. Could be a lot of people with a lot of pie on their faces ?.

3.) 12 May 2025 18:40:28
I feel like more sources would have picked up if it was Gerrard, not just a few folk on football forums.

4.) 12 May 2025 18:54:36
Re how can expletive get pie on face for posting a rumour.

5.) 12 May 2025 19:03:55
I feel its more likely somebody on here will know the truth rather than the Scottish media or Sky sports.

6.) 12 May 2025 19:04:02
Exactly John. Its a rumour. Some you win some you lose. Why would anyone end up with pie on their face for posting a rumour? Do you's want people to stop posting rumours?

7.) 12 May 2025 19:08:30
People are posting what they've been told doesn't mean they'll have pie on their faces just means their rumour was wrong, some people that may be wrong may have also been right in the past. This is Rangers rumours not Rangers facts. If you want hard facts then you'll have to wait until the photo of the manager is posted with a scarf above his head.

8.) 12 May 2025 19:10:13
No pie in faces for posting rumours it's crap like that that stops people posting rumours.

9.) 12 May 2025 19:24:52
Now now there's a good few folk on here who have went out on a limb and said 100% it's this manager or that manager, when folk say theve been told this or that yes that's a rumours but when it's 100% to me that's a fact.

10.) 12 May 2025 19:33:40
Ayrshire why would you believe anything that Sky have to say on Rangers as they are ran by folk who hate our club and what we stand for?

11.) 12 May 2025 20:09:11
I think it's more wishful thinking than belief three cheers as Gerrard would be far down my list of choices.

Don't mind if that doesn't sit well with some but happy to be honest about my thoughts.

I am going to choose to ignore this rumour as I just don't think it's plausible. I doubt the 49ers would put as much into this and be as involved in the decision making if they were pulling out or the takeover was in trouble.

This info would suit the narrative of the manager holding out till takeover complete but I just don't see it. For me it will be complete by mid June as was stated and if that's been publicly shared I doubt that any real issues with timelines would come into the equation.

Keep calm folks. It will all be ok.

Hold on am I wrong in saying that the 49ers would be fined a massive amount of they pulled out the deal at this stage? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Could be wrong but I'm sure it was somewhere.

And surely if a price was already agreed and signed off it can't be changed? I'm not a financial expert but surely that would be written into any deals signed so far.

My Star I've never been ITK but I have to agree with what you are saying.

So many differing stories and I believe people in here were ITK but when a board is changing and people who have no previous connections to the club or even Scotland are making decisions I find it unlikely that many if any will truly know. I hope this doesn't come across as discrediting those who have previously stated accurate info but possibly their original sources aren't as ITK as they once were.

Fan media are openly admitting they have no clue and the good auld Jim white is actually spouting WhatsApp rumours live lol. MSM recycle info and use terms like Could, possibly and potentially to pedal out material because they need clicks to make cash. Our new board will be American with no ties to Scottish MSM, our new CEO came from England, our new Sporting Director has come from England.

The only reason stories are leaking is because agents and camps of the potential candidates are leaking them. We are saying nothing as a club.

Stig I completely get all that and part of myself is unsure of why he would want to come here other than possibly the challenge of it all and the project the club have put in front of him.

I also get the calibre of player as he has gotten to work with a much higher level of professional and much better climate in Spain. He has however worked at Everton as assistant and worked in Germany, Italy and France. Now I am no weatherman but I'd like to say he's worked with lower calibre than real and Bayern but also worked in weather maybe not as bad as our but getting there.

I would say every concern you mention is completely valid and it's one of those ones we'll just have to wait and see. Rosevale again I'll offer a fair response to your concerns. Gerrard would also have to adjust lifestyle and climate and apparently according to Keith Jackson his wife doesn't want to move to Glasgow and would much rather remain in Bahrain or move to Dubai. That could be BS but could be true and would be a similar issue for Ancelotti and SG has already worked in Glasgow whilst his family remained in England so balancing work and family like that is possible if DA chose that option.

I'll bite stig as a member of the Ancelotti camp over Gerrard.

Is Ancelotti a risk? Absolutely. But so is a manager who has failed at two other clubs with significantly more funds than ourselves.

Ancelotti may never have been a "manager" as such but if you read any interviews from players he's coached they will give glowing recommendations of him. Javi Martinez, David Alaba and Eder Militao to name a few. He also would have the support of a sporting director, technical director and backroom staff. Don't forget Gerrard was a youth team coach before he came to us.

Gerrard in Europe in his final season with us had actually been eliminated from the UCL by 10 man Malmö, scraped past Alashkert 1-0 on aggregate and then lost to Lyon and Sparta Prague without scoring before beating Brondy at Ibrox then drawing away from home.

Ancelotti may be inexperienced but he has been part of some of the biggest clubs in the world and at one time was a target for the Everton job when none other than Kevin Thelwell was the sporting director. He's been at winning clubs and has had an extensive "apprenticeship" under his auld man.

A criticism of Clement, Russell Martin and other managers has been how one dimensional and rigid they are. If we cast our minds back to when Gerrard was here he was criticised for having no plan B and being rigid. He then went on to continue to play the same style of football at Villa and Saudi and stuck with it even when results were slipping or players were unavailable.

Ancelotti in his own interviews on podcasts has spoken about building tactics around the player's strengths and making a system rubbish what they have and exploiting opponents weaknesses. Basically being fluid and adaptable. He has made big game calls whilst being an assistant such as subbing on Alaba to take a free kick at 1-1 which he scored to win the match 2-1, subbing on Joselu Vs Bayern to win or instructing Benzema to let donnaruma get the ball and take a touch then pounce which resulted in real coming back to beat PSG.

He could flop and he could be a masterstroke. Just as Gerrard could because who's to say Gerrard will come back with the same passion and fire he had the first time when he was looking to prove himself. He's coming back with wounds to lick and of the two risks to be taken I'd prefer the risk of Ancelotti.

When I had posted the first time I read it was a poster on X saying he was to be offered it so I will retract that portion of the post.
